Interesting clarification info on X5 35d

Just found this on the web with some information about the X5 diesel (good for someone new to diesel like me). Thought someone else might be be interested in taking a look.

PDF here

Hope this helps,

It's neat to see those injectors. Two of mine were just replaced under warranty. Nice find, cool article.
Man, engine technology is absolutely amazing. I'll never understand it.
Ooh and the urea treatment is shown, that's neat to see how it works, too. (My urea tank was replaced under warranty because of a bad sensor inside of the tank).

{Eek @ slide 22!}

Now that I've had a little more time to look around, you may also want to see the one hour webcast at http://www.bmwusanews.com/diesel. While a little dated (prior the the 2009 LA International Auto Show) it puts context around many of those slides and provides some technical detail. There is also a good FAQ and other assets there.

I wish car manufacturers would make this type of information available to lowly consumers like us. With the Internet age, we are a smarter consumer than ever before and some of us can handle the technical details. Being a techie myself, I'm not particularly fond of Marketing department "flash and glitter". They think they know what we are able to digest in order to make an informed decision. Maybe it works for some people but not all. I've already downloaded the brochures for 2009/2010 and read the owners manuals (thanks to BMW for making them available).

In essence, that's why I'm here and visit other diesel SUV enthusiast forums before I decide what to buy. I want to know what other consumers are talking about. For that, I appreciate almost everyone's input be it good or bad. As for the person who made too much money this year and is whining about paying MSRP on a new X5 35d as a tax write-off, well, I can do without that
