02 745i Logic 7 amp issues

I know there are past posting about the Logic 7 issues but let going a little into detail about my problem. (2002 745i)

First, the passenger door speaker cuts off every now and then. I also experience the notorious "crackling" sound.

Now after driving this car for few weeks here is what i notice.

This problem completly goes away when the vehicle is in park. The music sounds great when the engine is off and all my problems are gone. I also noticed when i stop at a red light, that sound returns to normal.

I also noticed that after driving for some time approx 30mins+ that everything works fine.

Could this be a power problem? or a cold amp problem?

Unsuccessfull tries:

Disconnected and reconnected the optical wire in the glove box.
Also, removed amp wires and reinstalled.
Reset my eq settings and turned Logic control to 0 and 1...nothing works.

I know the simple but expensive fix is to replace the amp. I tried calling around for a radio tech, but they cannot diagnosis because they dont have the correct connections for this amp. I even told them that it might be a capacitor issue (seen posted in another post) but no one is willing to even attempt the task of checking.

Any help would be tried and greatly appreciated.

just throwing it out there but what about a battery issue? Do you have the orignal battery in the car? maybe after sitting and loosing some charge it acts up until the altinator fully charges it again?

Is that the only speaker impacted? Do any other speakers crackle? All speakers crackling usually means you need a new ASK, but if it's just that one speaker having symptoms, and no symptoms when not moving, you probably just have a loose connection at the speaker or a bad speaker.

Since i recently purchased this bimmer, i havent been able to take it on a long drive i.e. 1hr+ till this weekend. Since the drive the problem is gone. I really think it might be a power issue, as stated in my first posting. It's almost like taking the trip gave it enough power to work properly. As i said earlier, i would notice the problem was fixed when i took a 30 min drive around town. Im wondering just how how long it will hold before it runs down again. Might also think about investigating the battery and possibly replacing it. Hope its not an alternator issue. Thanks

There is a specific BMW TSB SI B65 12 06 with a defect code of 84 11 92 02 00 for crackling and/or popping noise coming from the audio sound system. Possible cause - the Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) within the Network Access Device (NAD) may have been corrupted. Software can be upgraded to fix if this is the problem. Since there are many updates to many different control units in these vehicles it isn't a bad idea to pay a visit to your dealer and let them upgrade them all. This can range I've heard from $120-$300+ but may make vehicle more reliable and remove question of component failure or just software upgrade. Doesn't hurt to call around to local BMW dealers and ask what they would charge to upgrade your vehicle software to most current Progman version. IF you have such done mention the TSB above so they specifically address such.

Logic 7 Audio Problems

I too have the same problem with my 2002 745i with Logic 7 sound. The issue started with a crackling noise, which escalated into a sporatic buzzing sound in the door speakers...it was so annoying! Then, I lost all deep range bass...the stereo sounds like crap now. I asked my local sound tech if I could replace what I think is a bad amp with an aftermarket amp...no DICE!! The amp in the Logic 7 system is fiber optics = Dealer Item Only!! Now, I've heard Dealer damages that range from $850 to $1300 depending on where you're located in the U.S. I've also heard you can buy them on Ebay in the $450-$500 price range. The amp is plug and play, but I hear is a little cumbersome to replace for first timers.

On another note, if your check engine light goes on and off sporatically and reads Code:
P0444...I found it to be my breather tube or sometimes referred to as an expansion tube or valve. My local dealer was well stocked with them so obviously this particular component failure is very much inherent...$72 plus tax was the damage and I did a first timer removal and installation that took 'bout 45 minutes or so. A bad breather tube/expansion valve can cause abnormal idles and engine hesitation.

I have a 2002 745i, with Logic 7 sound. My amplifier is located in the trunk on the left side behind the trim panel. I'm not sure where yours is located in the 2006 model, but i would assume it's in the same place.
