What's this ?
I found a spot on the garage floor this morn after my wife took her X5(04 4.4) to work. the spot is about 1" round and appears that is was clear (not motor oil) though it is a lubricant. The area is question is just behind the engine. I haven't been able to get under the car,any ideas?

!" round you say?? Hmm. I know what it is when it is 2" round, but the 1" round failure I cannot say....
But seriously... There are not many clear lubricants... brake fluid? atf? sure it isn't just air conditioner condensate with some contaminants making it seem slippery/greasy? A |

A previous post reported the similar situation. A small spot of clear liquid on the floor near the engine. It turned out to be a leaking strut. The only cure is to replace the strut. Suggest looking underneath at both drivers side/passenger side struts for signs of leaks.

It was more in the center of the car behind the engine. It's been cool here in N.FL. so I doubt it's condensate.

I would bet on a leaking strut, or power steering rack. Take it in for a check out.
