Of course it affects your ride. The question for you is: do you care?

Many of the aftermarket sport springs (like H&R) will give you 1.25-1.5 lower in front but not much in back. I liked the rear height the way it was, so my lowering was perfect (maybe 0.25" in back).

BTW, two seconds with google found this: http://www.bmwdiy.info/suspension-survey/index.html - so I assume you already found it. If not, I searched using the arcane combination of "e39 spring shock height" (no quotes). To be fair, I knew Viet's most excellent page was out there, but the search is fairly obvious.

Put H&R's and billy sports on mine a few months ago. Rides a bit rough but gotdayim does it handle like it's rollin' on velcro! Drop was perfect too. Rear is almost unnoticeable and the gap is gone up front. Looks incredible but again, it's a bit stuff.

Mods: Shark Injected | Magnaflow Exhaust + Resonator | H&R Springs | Bilstein SP Shocks + Struts | TMS Power Pulleys
Eibach F+R Sways | BeastPower Brackets | M-Tech bumpers | Predator ICE V3 + HID Fogs | Eurodyne CF Hood | BSW Sub + Dice + spec dock

You can warranty a turd, that way when you have a problem you can exchange it for a new turd.---End Quote---
