Today I rolled my new bottle caps (winter duty - don't hate :-) out onto the back deck and dutifully scrubbed every nook & cranny of them until they were sparkling like new. They may not be pretty wheels, but they are in excellent condition, and for the price I got this entire setup for (including studless winter tires with only a few thousand miles on them), I'm not complaining one bit. I also learned just how un-fun style 13 wheels are to clean... Here are some before & after photos.

Got tread?

Woah! Tractor tread!

In other news, my two 255-40-18s got here two days ago, but the 235-40-18s still aren't here. They were sent as one shipment with multiple parts. Tracking shows them as being in the Mobile FedEx distribution center (25 miles away) as of 5:30 this morning. I wanted to make one trip to get them mounted/balance today (they're too big for my changer/balance machine). Looks like it will be Monday, provided they're here by then!

it's like that old saying except in this case "birds of a feather park together"

I went grocery shopping today and when I got back out into the parking lot there was a 2000 something 330i next to me and a bmw suv on the other side (didnt want to look creepy in the parking lot so i didn't really investigate)

I went to Outback one night and parked pretty far away from the door to stay away from the "door slingers" that open without regard for paint or dents.. When I came out there were three more BMWs parked around me. One of the owners was on the way to his car at the same time I was. He commented with a chuckle "Designated BMW Parking?" and I said "looks like it!". We decided it was good, since all of us were carefully parked centered in the spots, and had no problems getting the doors open far enough to get in/out without dinging adjacent cars. It's a strange fraternity.

hahah you at least care about your car...

And to stay on topic abit...

Today on my bimmer i drove all the way to work with the heat/fan off and radio off to see if my car was making any OTHER noises because i can finally hear everything because my wheel bearing was fixed.

Its so weird having a quiet car.. its like its new.

Ha! It's incredible once the droning is gone, isn't it? Congrats on having that wheel bearing behind you now.

I don't really trust the drivers of new BMWs to not ding my car. Most of them are the kind of people that weave down the road as they juggle their vente mochafrappuccino while texting the office on their blackberry. When I see a well cared for older BMW, or one that has a BMWCCA sticker in the window, that's when I can park with ease.

truth....

today i was on the highway and limit in ny is 55... i was doing about 65-70ish with traffic...

I see Angel eyes in my rearview charging hard...

think to myself "hey check it out an enthusiast"

i move over to the middle lane to get out of his way and to see if he takes notice of my quad tips

then i see the early 20's guy wearing a suit and cell phone in his left hand and other hand on the wheel...

i immediately facepalm and scope out the next target...
car looked to have 16's on so i knew it wasnt a 335...

check..

time to see if this guy wants to play.... before i can egg him on hes looking at me and hits the kick down switch and is off..

so with a huge jump and me in the wrong gear i dropped to 3rd and stop his pull walk him then put a bus on him...

then a mile or 2 down the road we hit dead stop traffic and he rolls down his window...

"there is no way your car is faster than mine I paid 30k"

i responded with "Gotta love these old 4 cyl's they really give good gas mileage"

and was on my way
