Well using the stomp pedlal trick i got an o2 sensor code which i thought was weird because my o2 was and still is new

So I used Launch Computer to plug in the Service port and got the faults for knock sensor 2

Ah. OBDI is such a pain to scan. All of the scanners are really expensive and the parts stores don't have them around here.

Yeah, luckily my mechanic is my bro's good friend and 5-10mins away from me

I was thinking if an old laptop with a serial port and something like carsoft would make a homemade obd1 scanner cause i did find an obd1 serial cord online

Good ol snap on scanner you got there. My boss has one like that but it doesn't have the euro package on it. However hes got a MODIS (which is the tatas by the way) that rocks euro software and I just use that with the 20 pin I bought. Like a baus

Since I took the OEM headlights out of Elvira and replaced them with DJ Auto lights, I got to looking at the super-clouded OEMs and decided to see how clear I could get them. Got out the Mothers Powerball4Lights kit with powerball and sanding pads and went to work. After getting them looking pretty darn nice I've decided (1) it's easier to do them off the car if you can figure out how to hold them since you can get at all parts of the clear cover (I pinned them between my old man gut and the desk...worked great), and (2) These are going on Bebe, because they are in way better condition overall that the ones that are on her.

Steps as per the Mothers package instructions. Since these were really awful I did the whole process including sanding with progressively finer pads (provided):

Buff over lenses with the foam ball and polish to remove loose stuff
For the next four steps it's important to keep the surface wet (plain water) and clean the lenses between grits
Wet sand the entire cover with the #1 grit pad going lengthwise
Repeat with the #2 pad, sanding 90 degrees from the #1 pad scratches
Repeat with the #3 pad going lengthwise again
Repeat with the #4 pad going crosswise again (by this time you can barely tell which way the scratches are going anyway)
Clean the sanding residue from the last step, then using a hand drill with the Powerball attached, apply a little polishing compound to the center of the ball. Starting at slow speed but with substantial pressure, start moving slowly over the lens surface. Reapply more polishing compound frequently. Continue buffing at progressively higher speed and renewing the polishing compound often. You can wipe the lens down with a microfiber cloth to see you progress. When you decide you've gone far enough, wash the lens with soap and water. You can dry it and then apply RainX if you want (it does help keep the lenses clear longer). Reinstall and you're done. If you were careful removing the lights you should have little or no readjustment of the beams. Now go for a drive after dark and admire how much better your lights work. When you get home, admire how much better the lights look. Go ahead, you can look back a couple times.

Nice to bring life back into old parts. I had outstanding success with the 3M kit.

The local auto parts places had the 3M polish. I bought it and used it, but it would take forever to get all the stone chips and scratches out with nothing but the polish working by hand. I asked them to get the kit, but they never did, so I bought the Mothers kit. I do like that powerball! The sanding took probably ten minutes per light, but the polishing only too about 4 minutes each. I can't wait to put them on Bebe.

BTW, my adjusters came from Pelican today. Now I just need my replacement ballast....

Yeah, the full kit is necessary on most headlights. I was surprised (and pleased) at how aggressive the sanding discs were. Definitely made things a lot easier to get all the pitting and other imperfections out.

Unhappy DDM strikes again

The M3 molding for Elvira came today................minus the Motorsports inserts! Amber said "their prices draw you in, but you pay in aggrivation". So true.

Yea DDM is terrible and I will never buy anything from them again...the thing is ECS tuning has pretty much same prices and there customer service is amazing...I think im going to pick up my m3 mirrors from them vs buying oem and having to replace the glass at 60-90 bucks a piece, plust can paint them easier bc come primered.

I wish it was this Ken's 1600. If he doesn't appreciate it, tell him I would. One Ken to another
