Today on my Bimmer I...

I just pull the whole thing off. 4 nuts and you're done. I hate having to deal with plastic things that can break

i came back from being gone for two weeks, so i went for a little drive in my lovely car... one to many clutch kick attempts and i roasted the clutch. it was on it's way out anyways, but this sucks!

Yesterday I changed the cabin air filter which appeared to be the original and gave it a bath..

Today if the rains hold off I would like to clay bar it..

What is a "clutch kick"?

it's been on it's way out for the past month so even if it didn't happen last night it'd of happened with jus normal driving today or tomorrow, it was baaaaad.

changed out the dark dirty fluid with nice gold clean fluid on my diff


my God gear fluid smells.

only thing left to do is an oil change then Shes all ready for bimmerfest

I hear you on that. Old gear fluid is probably the worst smell to ever come from a car.

I've heard someone who has actually observed surgeries say it smells just like burning flesh.

I always think of burnt parmesan cheese, luckily I haven't ever smelled burning flesh. Whatever it smells like, its some pretty funky stuff.

You think that's bad, try tasting brake fluid.

Been there, done that.

Well today I got half the car clay barred then the big brown truck showed up with my Depo lights so the clay bar project got put on hold..

The paint on the half I did get done cleaned up pretty good..

Broke a plastic tab that holds the corner light in on the passenger side so that looks like ass.....Other than that the Depo's went pretty smooth, I got the LED AE's..

S54 rad and Stewart pump showed up also..

Next thursday is prep the e39 day, she may be boring but i want that bish CLEAN for the fest

what did you use on the tips ?? PO put a Borla on mine and the tips are looking a little rough..

Best thing to do if your tips are really bad is steel wool and lacquer thinner. Then use metal polish.

I used simple green to get the grease and crap off, then #0000 steel wool, then cleaned up with water, then polish

The smell lasts for days if you get your hair soaked with it.........

I actually don't mind the smell of gear oil all that much. To me, it smells like being a kid working underneath hot rods in the summer, which was a lot of fun.
