Don't worry, I'm completely consistent: I've already thoroughly berated myself for even entertaining the idea.

Now, back to finding where I can get it for the best price......

When I pulled the breather tube from the valve cover there was some pretty milky looking oil there so I think it is leaking into the oil. Preponderance of evidence. I really do think I'll try blue devil and see what happens..... Will redo compression test with it warmed up after all put together and then after treatment and see what happens.

It's not unusual to get condensation in the area of the oil filler baffle and in the breather tube for engines that have only done short runs. What does the oil on the dipstick look like. Is it milky too? Drain the oil and take a look at it in bulk to see if you really see signs of coolant in it. Coolant leaking into the oil doesn't affect compression readings. Yes you have a big difference in compression readings but NONE of those readings indicate any LOSS of compression. If you have doubts about the compression test do a leak down test and confirm for certain before you put any of that crap in your engine. It's possible you have a short run engine and it's really carboned up which can give you differences in the compression readings, ALL to the high side.
This would be my approach:

1. Seafoam it through the mani two or three treatments, then recheck compression. If still big deltas.....
2. Leak down test

Very good points. I am going to change the oil before I run it again anyway, I'll drain into an open pan this time and look at it. Didn't see any signs of coolant on the dipstick when I pulled it.

I tried to install the drivers side window track that Dino got me, but much to my dismay, it's too long... so there must be difference between the sedan years... Also found out that my regulator is indeed bad... so I've about had it with working inside doors today. I'm seriously debating buying two black doors that have working everything. the regulator looks like a piss job.

The new NY plates are excellent. Very vintage style, and way better than the stupid white & blue ones from before. Doesn't mean that having to hang one on the front of your car is any more easy to deal with, but still.

I bought various body clips and a set of lugs... I also took a very hard turn while decelerating on a privet road and my car made a funny whine for like 10 minutes whenever I accelerated. Any thoughts?

Yeah. It sounded like a pump might be taking a poop on me but then it just went away.

Yeah, there are numerous versions of those things. I don't really see the point of using those on an E36, where you don't have to drill holes into your bumper to mount a front plate. I think cars look goofy when the plate is off to the side - symmetry is important.

If your PS reservoir is low, taking a hard turn could've caused temporary fluid starvation which eventually went away when things settled down.

I'll look at it when I get home. I didn't want to drive it to Seattle after that. it freaked me out.

I like the idea of the plate holder because I don't plan to get predrilled bumper trim. That or I want to get a euro plate piece and plate set. Either way I'm not mounting it until I am told I have to. Maybe I'll get super crazy and put it on a 6" actuator that pops out when I turn the car on. That would be funky.

I did wrap said plate in a M plate frame so its not a total loss..

I figure since the car was originally spec'd with some M goodies (see sig) its a fit or at least in my world it is..

Yeah, it looks really cool, but in reality it's just one more thing to rip off on a speed bump or parking berm.

If I ever move to a state that needs a front plate (haha) I'm going to have to get one of those.
