had taken pics of 'before'...but for some reason the card isn't loading, and appears to be blank??

so, i went to go get another sd card, and found a cool flash drive as well, so i got that, too.

so now i should have no difficulties with teh pics.

i will commence with teh remainder of teh destroying this weekend.

Replaced the cam position sensor today. Not too bad except for the connector under the intake manifold. Didn't realize the release was a push instead of a pull and managed to pull it off, drop it, and lose it. Fortunately the clip from the throttle valve switch is the same so I transplanted that one and used a tie wrap as a temp holder until the replacement clip arrives.
Interestingly, it took 5 engine start/stop cycles before the CEL cleared....

Yeah, I think the CEL takes a little while in general to turn off for certain things. Did you have to pull the intake manifold to reach the connector?

No, by pulling the cover off the oil filter and taking out the air box and alternator cooling duct I had enough room to get my hand in. If I'd realized the connector release was a push and not a pull it would have been even easier.

Removed the headliner and pillars from my red car to install it in the 328.

Then I needed to wrap the one A pillar because the one from the red car had my gauge pod on it.
And finally installed. Looks much better, old one was falling apart and tan.

Now I need to wrap the tan one in suede for the black car. Where can I find some? I want it to match my armrest from rallyroad.net.

Also for you climate control gurus, the fan ac heat etc. do not work. I swapped the digital unit itself from the working one from my red car and it made no difference.

Im guessing fsu?

The unit turns on and functions exaxtly as it should. Just there is no air movement or what have you.

you mean the climate control head?? i thought that you meant that you got no fan operation, which would be the fsu or the fan.

or a fuse, but you checked that already, riiiiiight??

since the fan is pretty burried, the fsu would (should??) be between the control head and the blower motor. when the fsu is bypassed, it should operate the fan @ full speed since it is allowing full current to go through to the fan.

this is all a swag (sophisticated wild abstract guessing) protocol since i do not have a schematic in front of me to verify this information. if you could reach the fan, though, that would be ideal to check with a test light to see if the fan is bad.

The climate control head that controls everything looks turns on and acts exactly as it should, but neither the fan, ac, heat, defroster etc turn on.

do you hear the blend doors moving when requesting vent vs. footwell vs. defrost??

does the compressor kick on when requesting ac or defrost?? if so, then i would say it sounds like a blower motor to me, unless the fsu died. but then, i thought they would fail 1 or 2 speeds first, before giving up the ghost totally...

It wasn't today but yesterday....new belt tensioner cylinder arrived. Installed it...the rattle is finally GONE! Bebe is so quiet now! I didn't realize just how noisy that tensioner was. Rattlerattlerattlerattle even when at speed. I also put a new thermostat in her. Last cold snap it was taking forever to warm up, apparently stuck open. Yesterday she stuck shut and started to run toward the red, so out came the old 'stat and in went the new. Took my time bleeding the system. Temp now goes to center within a mile and stays there.

Nice!

I've had a very loud squeaking since I put the new alternator in. I figured it would go away, but a few hundred miles later, it's still there

If it started out squealing I think I'd have taken it back.

Didn't have much of a choice at the time... Had to get home. Do you think I should stop there on the way back? It's a little bit out of the way, and I doubt they have another in stock.

Does the whine get louder when you ask for more juice? Lights, stereo or air.

Yeah, I forgot it was breakdown drama. Do you have their phone number? Explain the situation and maybe they can help....like get one on hand before you get there.

Nope, just gets louder with increased RPM.

Heading back tomorrow morning, so I don't think they can get one in time. I'll give them a call anyway, though. Maybe on my way back for Christmas, I'll stop there.

I would guess belt tensioner then. Or like Franklyn said just the belt.
