BMW Farm report: Put a new idle control valve on the 633. Success! Idle went from a bouncy and annoying 1000-1200 to a stable 700 rpm.

Long ago promised sound clip of the throaty sound of this exhaust system:

Today I realized I have a serious love hate relationship with my E36 love her when I'm taking razor sharp corners with a huge grin on my face. Hate her when her ICV I just cleaned needs cleaning again (Thanks Hurricane Sandy).

Step one: remove your cats, resonators and stock muffler and join the remains with test pipes.

Step two: Buy a cylindrical Magnaflow and convert the inlets/outlets to twin pipes. Install it on the tail end of the pipes

Step three: ????

Step four: profit!

will commence sometime this week with the operation auto delete to the ti, but have to finish the waterpump repair to cadence.

i had the new fan, fan clutch, radiator....the old fan clutch didn't want to cooperate. at all. not even a little bit.

the pulley was chipped all across the back, creating sharp edges, so i was not really feeling the idea of reuse. i checked the parts car, and yes!! it survived the crash intact, so i went to remove it.

the whole thing was seized as well. i did manage to break the whole thing off the waterpump shaft with a whack of the hammer while trying to remove it. so now i will try puttingit in a vice and apply some heat.

worst case, gotta break out the cutting tools...

i have *never* had this much trouble with a bmw fan clutch before, much less 2 in a row!!

but, it'll all be together by tommorrow i'm sure. then i can put it back on the road.

then i get to play wiht the ti.

Bought a Dinan SC bracket, told wife, was amazed when wife was receptive, washed waxed e36, was stoked for like 2 hours and now Im lurking in the forced induction forum waiting for people to freak out about me wanting to run 6psi. I am also waiting at the door for the package. According to my watch it should be here in about 692 hours. Better get a snack.

No I meant the IAC Ken, lol.

Mine is jumpy and high as well. I want my E30 to be super quiet which it is.

Get a new one. There's no repair for the IAC other than cleaning it with carb and choke cleaner. If that doesn't fix it (and it didn't on the 633), it's done. Look at Rockauto for a replacement. They were cheaper there than anywhere else I looked (still expensive ).

I did find one on ebay for 120 shipped, might get it.

Today on the 328 I:

Replaced the armrest with one from ebay. 30 bucks.

And on the E30 I replaced the broken alternator bracket.

Yes I know, it needs a belt too. At least now it doesn't squeal!

And not on my bimmer, did a valve adjustment on my 450r:

finished the waterpump, rad, and clutch/fan on cadence. will be getting here back on the road and parking the e28 to fix that.

also fixed my door striker issue. now i don't get dingdingdingdingding every time i shut the car off...

inspected the ti a little bit more. looks like there is an hid installed on this.... no sure if i am gonna keep them or not. they look too hacked. i just hope that the rest of the wiring on this thing isn't too shredded. the guy must have had a light fetish. there were fogs on the regular spot (oe style, but broken), aftermarkets in the air duct holes, and behind the grilles.

zip ties *everywhere*....

and there are other little issues here and there. so i have my work cut out for me.

will tinker a bit with the compression and see what that indicates. i have a feeling i am going to be pulling a head of the m42 tomorrow...

will try to remember to take the camera with me to document the tragedy

Oil change with filter and air filter change.
And not on my BMW oil changes on Escape and Trailblazer along with air filter on Escape. Thanks Amazon and Amsoil, you kept me out of Autozone, which I consider a success.
