Worked most of the day on Bebe, putting her back together. Discovered the old coolant pipe left me a present in the block....the last 1/8" of the fitting had broken off and was still in the hole. No wonder I couldn't get the new one to fit flush with the block! I was cruising along, reconnecting stuff, and was almost ready to put in the radiator, when here's this two-prong plug under the intake boot, just dangling there, not connected to anything. I thought I had labeled all the electrical connections as I took them off. I have no clue where this one goes. The wire is bundled with the AFM connector, and is long enough to fit almost anywhere on the intake side. I pulled back the boot, and the wires are red with a white stripe and brown. I haven't found that pair in the ETM yet, but I'm looking. By this time it was getting dark and a lot colder real quick. Wind blowing about 25-30 mph. I said screw this and went to the house. I'll figure it out later.

For the love of god, don't put HIDs in the stock low-beam housings.

However, I have been thinking of putting HIDs in my high-beams for dark side roads.

Ken, on page ELE-75 of the Bentley in the lower left corner of the page it shows a red/white and brown wire pair goes to the evaporative emission sensor. Might be what your orphan connector goes to.

The ones listed as well as DJ Autos are not real ZKW headlights. Real ones run about $400 for the pair.

It's ok David. I've put it back together with the vacuum line to the valve plugged. When I can afford one I'll install it. I'm sure this one's been DOA for a while. My daughter never gets it up to ~4600 rpm to tell whether it works or not!

Rotated my tires today. Wear was completely even across the tread on all four tires, but the fronts are wearing a little faster than the rears. Still plenty of tread left, but I'd have expected it to be the other way around.

Sounds like you've been taking hard turns more than you've been doing burnouts.

Could be. I seldom accelerate hard, but I do like to take corners without slowing down much. It's what the car gods invented the E36 for.

I usually have just about even wear all around. And that's with "spirited" starts and shifts every once in a while.
