To get the old base plate out I had to rip and tear with pliers until I could jam a screw driver between the tabs and the mounting plate. The C clip that holds the pedal up top is easy, just slide a jewlers screwdriver in there and pop it off. Make sure to put the new one in base first or else it'll be hell to install, overall it took me 15 minutes tops.

Now to find said vaccum leak and fix it.....oh joy

Would a Peake scanner give me the exact location of the leak before I start throwing parts at this thing blindly ??
The peak scanner won't say exactly, but will narrow it down to what system is affected.

Started sanding down the m3 bumper got a lot of the chips sanded out. I dunno if i have to prime it before I paint I mean it's only ABS. However I do need new trim for the S.O.B. because the P.O. decided he was going to punch 50 holes in them for his license plate. Either that or bondo time The tow hook trim piece looks horrendous as does the front piece stamped BMW. I might be able to save them though esp at 30 bucks each.

Today we went to my local dealer and took a 2010 X5 out for a ride.....I'm thinking of down sizing from the F150 which is my DD to a used X5..

I was impressed with how the X5 drove it didn't feel like an SUV at all or at least like the SUV's I have owned in the past..

I'm going to do some research and see how they are overall..

If anyone has an opinion good or bad of the X5 feel free to post up !!

I would love to get into an X3 or X5 but the fuel economy, my commute and high gas prices wouldn't get along enough for my budget.

^^I'm in a lifted F150 on bigger rubber now so the X5 would be a jump in mileage for the better, plus I don't really need the truck anymore....Since my buddy got married and became a bitch were not doing track days with the motorcycles anymore....The X5 has enough grunt to pull a bike trailer anyway if he regrows a pair and starts riding again..

I quit buying shelf filters (Motorcraft, Fram, Delco, etc.) and buy several Mahle or Mann filters at once from Pelican. Way cheaper and a lot better quality.

if he didn't ring me up on the spot i would have done exactly that, but i sort of showed my hand when i said "but the filter and 5qt are only 45 dollars.." so he would've know what was up. I'll buy it online next time. buttholes. So who wants to guess how many quarts actually came out of my car. Hint: it wasn't the proper amount and there are no visible oil leaks.

I still would have removed one quart. Learned not to care from my wife. When something's on sale, she gets the sale price.

just under 4 quarts. granted i stretch this oil change out longer than I should have but I never see oil from the exhaust, or smell it burning. so I'm guessing it just... "went away" It's not in the coolant so I'm not all that concerned.

Check it the next morning and it will be fuller. The oil has to drain back done into the pan to get an accurate reading.

If you've gotten down to the plastic where you've sanded then yes, you want to prime. I used this when I painted the fender flares on the Taco and the paint has adhered really well. We've used it at work for plastic parts we needed to paint and the finish coat has adhered much better than if we'd sprayed it directly onto the plastic.
