Not technically today, but Saturday, I swapped out my Diff. Same old open diff type again. Just needed to get the ticking time bomb sorted. It's been rumbling for months... Will look into LSD after some other works are done. Namely suspension and wheels.
Also changed the oil (mobil 1 0w40) and filter.
Final thing I did was realise that my car does not have a sway bar on the rear. That's gotta be unique right? off to the scrap yard I go...

How did the diff swap go? I'll be installing an LSD in my car before too long.

It was pretty easy actually. Although I didn't have a sway bar to remove or reinstall, so that simplified things
Also as I have a 320 it was the small case diff, so i was able to manhandle it into position "relatively" easily. I didn't even have to drop the exhaust.
Overall I think it is more fiddly than it is difficult. As long as you have an E12 torx bit you're set. Everything else is simple enough. Took about 3 hours, but I did it on my own, with little or no light (power went in the garage and all I had was a tiny torch with dying batteries... It was a fun day... )
Best of luck with yours!!

I don't want to remove anything from my car that I use, like:

Cruise control
Fogs
A/C
Rear seats
Ect.

I will just be replacing things, with lighter things. I'll be under 3000lbs, and that's a very good number.

I really didnt like them. Their "angel eyes" were just three ugly LEDs behind each ring. And it was just built awfully. We had to do hella custom work to make them fit. But 3 hours later got them working and looking good haha

Well... im not the type to charge others for work. If anything I just accept some lunch or something lol... I just helped this kid out. Got $100 for the AE's, and we installed them (took 3 feckin hours), and I also threw in the dove grey rear seats I had for free lol

Free is free (and awesome), but why go through the hassle of installing an LSD on a 318?

Meh. There isn't much launching going on in a 318, and aside from that, a limited slip diff is most beneficial in corners when the weight distribution is loaded to one side. If you're just launching from a standstill, both tires will have more or less equal traction, and will spin at the same speed even with an open diff.

But the bottom line is that a 318 has so little power that you're never really going to be limited by excessive wheel spin under any circumstances.
