today we spent all day cleaning and detailing our 318... tomorrow its oil and filter change to start my service regime......tonight we go jalan jalan (local speak for a spin in the car, jalan=road/trip) to the local resterant for a slap up seafood dinner, and of course, a few buckets of the local brew, Tiger beer. thats what i call a day well spent... :-)

Dave that sounds glorious.

Today I bought a new air intake boot for the 323, as the PO decided to mount the short ram induction kit...on nothing. Subsequently the rubber intake after the MAF suffered and cracked.

Idiocity.

Attrocity.

I mean, why do fools begin to modify a car without making the car healthy first, and then modifying properly?

I give you; The car that Jack did not build, but decided to wreck when he had an itch and haphazardly went about molesting a perfectly well preserved example of German engineering.

Everytime I get round to repairing one of his botchjobs, I find 3 more.

At least my car will be minted when Im finished with it

thats the spirit, i got my 328 off my aunt, she hooked me up with a great price ($1500, great for only 99k) but the car is at about a c+ cosmetic wise. but that's the thing i love about buying a use car, you get to start all over again....build it back up to your standards. it's like a clean canvas....well not very clean, but a canvas none the less.

today i scraped my car twice, once in my broker's driveway, and once on a crazy patch of dirt road that shouldn't be considered a road
I'm also still trying to figure out my speaker/wiring issue as well as about 50 other projects that are on hiatus for the time being

I replaced the backlight bulb for the headlight switch. Took about 3 minutes to do. I had no idea it was even supposed to be illuminated (but I had a sneaking suspicion, because why shouldn't it be?).

I went to the dealer. It's really close to me in Seattle, so it's not as inconvenient for me as it is for others. I stopped by an auto parts store (O'Reilly) first to see if they had something that would work, but they didn't. The wattage of all the bulbs at O'Reilly was too high, and I didn't want to risk melting anything or blowing fuses, etc. The people in the DIY write-up used a bulb that has many times the wattage of the proper size bulb, which seems like total insanity to me. It was so bright that they resorted to using a Sharpie marker to "tint" the bulb, rather than just getting the correct bulb in the first place.

My local Advance Auto Parts had exact replacements. <$5 for two.

I never knew there was supposed to be a light on the headlight switch either until the switch imploded (wonderful BMW plastic) and I had to replace it.

....and today on one of my Bimmers (Elvira) I cranked her up for her weekly warm-up, and after ten minutes made her go "vroom-vroom".......then shut her off

nothing wrong with the 2 tone, just the arrogance that comes through (don't low ball me) and whatnot. 'runs great...awesome car...'...tastes great/less filling...whatever..., oh yeah, btw this wonderful awsome car needs (start naming random stuff...)

the woods are full of these sorts of sellers. must be something in the water

regardless, this just screams to me so i always assume the owner put more into the paint and sound system than in maintenance. but i'm jaded i guess...
