Has anyone tried the online search for Point of interest? How do you use it?

Does anyone know about getting navigation updates? When are they available? Is the dealer going to charge for them?

Online search??? I assume you're referring to the BMW Search (BMW Assist) option?

Navigation updates are avilable thru your local BMW Service Center/Parts Department.

Yes, BMW does charge for Navigation software updates and map updates (This has always being the case for those that bought their map updates thru BMW or Navteq). Sometimes they even charge labor for updating/loading the map updates.

The latest and greatest is the 2010-1 Premium map update for HDD based iDrive Nav systems.

I can see the online search choice but it is greyed out.

US models don't have the Internet/Online Search.

I recommend you contact your local BMW Service Center for the map update price(s). Last year when i wanted 2009-2 Premium updates they quoted me $410 including labor.

$410 for a map update! Wow. Hopefully someone will figure out how to do it for a whole lot less.
