That is a hilarious thread, I am trying to remember if any 20 something year old chicks with daddy issues have flirted with me in the car. I do know that my wife has had a couple of "hits" from dudes trying to talk her up. She drives it more than me, when I get in it I am so happy that I am kicking it very hard; they couldn't catch me to say anything if they wanted to.

Mein Auto: Looking
After having the car for about 3 weeks, I have learned this thing is an absolute rocket. I had only driven in (D), I used the Sport button for about 2 miles and turned it off. But today I switched over to Manual... Talk about giddy up... But then I put it in Manual, then hit the Sport button HOLY HELL.... I had a huge smile the rest of the way home. I know there are a lot of other faster cars out there, but this is the fastest one that I have owned. My wife has an Infiniti M45 and I thought it was fast...... Nice find for me

Next step is to turn off Traction Control. Presss the DTC button one time, it turns off the first level of control. When you really feel nutty hold the button down for 10 seconds or so, until a big triangle appears on your screen. Now it is all the way off. Be careful, this beast can get away from you. You can always turn this on/off on the fly, so if you don't like it just press the button once and it all turns back on.

You are right, this car when put in all the right "modes" can make for a very spririted ride.

This goes for the 2011 Nav disc anyway. If you look up banking in POI, Credit Unions are not included, only banks are.

Not every 2004 had it. Mine did but others had to retrofit to get it working. You can tell if you have it in the COmmunications menu.

Very happy to be able to "give back" to the forum that has helped me decipher the many "positive" attributes of this fantastic machine. I have the regular Cruise Control - do not have the radar/laser(?) based cruise control. Regardless of whether the CC is on or off, if you pull back (towards the driver) on the stalk to the second detent (first detent just reduces the set speed as like normal Cruise Control), the brakes are applied. How 'bout them apples?

Just learned yesterday that the '08 650 cruise control was improved over my '04 645 - in the 645, the CC indicator was just a white marker. In the 650, it is lit up green and when you hit the brakes, it turns red. This car is amazing - I learn something new all the time.

A couple of discoveries since I got my 650 (no particular order):
1) I discovered that my car came with "lane assist" whilst driving yesterday. Doubt it'll get turned on again after initial play!
2) I discovered that my wife hates the auto dimming mirrors (time to get the black tape out...) and the beep the parking sensor makes. Atleast she's finally admitted she likes driving the thing!
3) I discovered its easier to parallel park than the ford focus I've swapped it for - definately wasn't expecting that.
4) I discovered that mini drivers think they're faster off the line...
5) They've discovered that they're wrong

LOL...classic!

Note you can hit the "P)))" park distance button down by the shifter to cancel the beeping if it's annoying you. I hit that every time I pull in/out of my garage because the beeping drives me nuts.

I just found out that after you park, if you hit the turn signals either left or right, your angle eyes and brake parking lights will stay lit on that side. This is good for if you're parking for short amount of time in a dark alley to warn people so they can see u.

Hey TopDownInFL - I have Comfort Access, but this doesn't seem to work for me... Is there something I'm missing, other than "Press/Release/Press(&hold) the unlock button"...? This is something I would LOVE to see work, but I thought you needed an aftermarket option to make it work....

Thanks for all your comments! Lots have been very helpful to me!

It made enough difference to me that I went from (traction control off) sluggish start, then good acceleration, to slight WHEELSPIN off the line, and continued acceleration. MUCH better! And so funny to hear this discussed, because I was starting to think I was imagining the sluggish starts until I read this...

Yep, or you can toggle the system on or off with the button in front of the shifter in mine. Right by the heated seats button if you have it. Handy, because sometimes (depending on the circumstance) you can pull quickly into a spot and it doesn't realize you're parking, so you can manually turn it on. Equally, pulling away slowly, you can toggle it off before it turns itself off....

I assume you are talking about putting the top(or windows in the case of a coupe) down from the keyfob? If so, I've found on the 650 it's a bit more finicky than the 645 so I've unlocked and waited for the parking lights (the turn signals) to light up and then depressend and held. That works. If you're getting intermittent reception (e.g. - the roof stops moving halfway down even though you're depressing the button in the keyfob), You make have either a dead (or dying) battery in the keyfob or a bad receiver (in the mirror - I had that replaced in my 645 after several visits to the dealership).

Thanks TopDownInFL - I'll try again. Sure would be way cool if it worked. There's very little to complain about with the car, but if I were to nit-pick, I'd say having to hold the roof open button the whole time seems a pain (although it's likely done that way as a safety thing I guess)

I've learned that doing a three-point-turn is a slow experience in a 650 auto.... That poor transmission seems to take a while to go from forward to reverse. Then again, who really cares about going BACKWARDS in a car like this, eh?
