If you're out of warranty already, take a look at the SmartTop - it allows you to put the top up and down with a single button push (without holding it down).

That the center console looks if the top is down and the alarm is set.

You mean LOCKS, not looks.

I love this feature. It lets me leave the top down when ever I park the car. There is nothing to steal in the cockpit so I almost never bother closing the top when I park it.

2 screws your screen gone

3 screws all the wood on the center console and your AC controls are gone

2 screws and your CiC is gone

Give me about 1.30 seconds and it be stripped

I only know this from working on the car btw

I do the same, if I have anything in the cockpit (like when running errands and picking up odd and end items) I simply push them deep into the passenger footwell. Then put the windows up to make it difficult to reach in.

Funny! This is the case with all cars though, the entire dash is typically a couple of screws and a lot of pressure clips. Only problem is the alarm will be screaming at you the entire time if you jump into the cockpit with the car locked.

If you really want to steal something fast take the back bottom seat cushion. No screws, just yank the front up, pull it out and GO. You don't even have to get in the convertible to do it.

LOL....We have motion sensors so you would have to remove those screws fast.

Two good things about leaving the top down: less wear-and-tear on the delicate top mechanism and no chance of some hater putting a knife or cigarette through the soft top.

Realized that I can use Auxillary plug in the console to play music via Pandora. Adds another great option for media.

i want a aux plug for that same reason

I've now discovered its possible to fit a large painting (aprox 1.3m x 0.8m) in a sixer coupe with two passengers (basically along the inside of the roof), and that even at 6'3" the seats go low enough that I still had enough head room! Also discovered its annoying having no view out the back window for a 6 hour drive...

bump to this thread as it should be a page one sticky. And, b/c I used the "field repair" push on the inside of the vert top frame again this weekend to clear a "top not locked" error, I thought this thread explaining the "repair" qualified for something new I discovered...

Just learned this weekend if you put your car in reverse and have obstacles that are less than 12" at both the front and back of the car, the PDC goes "Beep, Bop, Beep, Bop, Beep, Bop". (I was in my garage and started the car before opening the garage door and there is some "stuff" in front of my car).

One more... The TPM tells me exactly which tire is low (my '04 only had the lesser version that uses wheel rotation to determine low pressure and it would only tell me a tire was low but not which one.)

I seem to get much less travel sick in the sixer compared to previous cars when my wife is driving country roads; especially with sport mode on - lack of roll with dynamic drive seems to make a massive difference. Not something I expected at all, but a major boon Obviously its better still when I'm driving

Any thoughts on actual performance in icy conditions with all season tires?

I discovered I consistently get to the office much earlier than before. It's not like this was ever an issue, but it's funny how I wake up excited to hit the road. The downside? I don't get to really enjoy the drive because it's over so quickly and I find myself looking for errands to run!

Learned a few things with my new coupe:

1) The cockpit lighting is tied to the light sensors (normally used to adjust the electrochromatic mirrors) to change the lighting from white during the day to orange at night
2) I can use the preset buttons, normally for radio stations and phone numbers, for navigation destinations as well
3) You don't need to purchase the LED light option - the standard lights look amazing on their own
4) You can find a location on Google maps and send it to your car to be used by the nav system!
5) You now can lock the center console storage and/or the trunk release separately

That is very cool, especially the the Navigation link to Google Maps!!! I use that extensively with my TomTom, so much easier to pre-program all my stops from Google Maps and send it to the Nav unit via a USB cable. Sending wirelessly (or over the Internet) is a step better than that.

On my 645 and '08 650, pressing the volume knob would mute the radio and the *only* way to turn the volume back up was to re-press the knob. On the '12 650, pressing the knob will toggle mute, BUT if you press once, it takes the volume to zero and you can turn the knob to raise the volume from zero to whatever level you want. The only application of this I can think of is someone other than the driver gets a phone call, so you mute the radio and then turn it up to get just a small amount of music to hear while the passenger is on their call (?).

I learned not to play with the time and date to much around, it will mess up the inspection interval for front and back brakes. showing -15000 Km now, no way to reset, only at the stealer ship.

i discovered i can lock the trunk from the inside with the ignition key. Also i discovered the is an input to connect a light on the glovebox......

I discovered that a "Sever weather warning" pops up if the temp drops close to freezing, I got it when it dropped below 34F. It's been unusually cold lately here in LA & I got it while driving during the late night/early morning hours, freaked me out at first, but then it went away lol

LOL YES! I almost had a heart attack. I just got my baby out of the shop when all of a sudden the next morining DING! LOL the idrive said that the weather has droped below 37 F. I thought to myself 'WOW! Was that really necessary.'
