That is the only downside, my opinion only.

For the great majority, we all know life is a series of give and take, but the upside here is for those who are driving a boring ride, even if back and forth to work (like me) and can afford to escape (also, like me), because we want to express individually or want to 'live' the trade-off to humdrum for some (deserved) breathing room, some few of us will find it very much worth the effort.

No need to inject a downer, this was just a positive expression, but thanks for your post.

It's just one of those 'funny truths' that's only funny to those who've experienced it. We all know it's true. But I wouldn't trade my bimmer for nothin'. Not the X5, not the 325i. I love the smile it puts on my face.

So to actually contribute, funny story. When I went to trade in my 2000 528i for my current X5, the day I was taking it in, i accidentally hit the headrest button at the side of the drivers seat only to find out that I had power headrests. Had the car for 2 years, never knew!

Of course you were right about the auto-debit (suffering that here as well) and I didn't intend to suggest your post was negative, happy you understood that!

I continue to discover reasons I love my cars and come back to this thread often to see what else I can discover.

Enjoy!

Today I learned that you cant lock your key FOB in the trunk. I placed my camera bag in the trunk which had my keys in it then closed my trunk. The trunk didnt lock and the car beeped a few times. I thought that was awesome because I would have locked my key Fob in the trunk.

+1 haha

Actually yesterday I was fiddling around with the check control & BC buttons on the turn signal post. I was flipping through the MPG & average speed displays & then pressed & held down the BC button & it cleared them. I thought it was a cool little trick, I'm sure it was explained in the manual, but I had never done it before.

When you place your finger on one of the 6 memory buttons near the cd player (don't press just touch it for 1 second), you can see a popup on screen that tells you what function is saved under each of the 6 buttons.

My '07 manufactures brake pads. When I bought it with 30k miles last fall, it showed 29k to go front brakes and 24k rear. Now, 10k later, it is 42k front and 32k rear. It must be that my driving uses much less braking than previous owner.

I know in canada, you cant have the windows roll up with the lock button, only drop them with the unlock. I had a great guy from the 7 series group hook up his laptop to my 7 and actually programmed my remote to do this. The dealership was amazed when I showed them. lol.

SmartTopp is a solution for the e64's - allows you to open and close without needing to hold the button down.

I learned that the headrests are too far forward, and they can't be adjusted on the 328I, 2010.
Too bad because driving with neck pain isn't a joy!

This thread should be a sticky....

After two years of ownership I just realized that the 650i has a "secret" oil dipstick.

Here is my post with pics in the oil change DIY thread.

Wow. Does it show motor oil level or something else? I wonder if 645 has it..

I pulled it and it shows motor oil.

The 645s have an oil stick in the traditional location at the front of the engine.

The only thing that was not adequately covered in the manual was the ability of the trunk lock to control the entire locking system. I think BMW just thinks everybody knows about it.

The 6er has been called a shark since the 70s.
