1) I thought the microphone for voice commands was in the steering wheel and found out it's above the rearview mirror.

Also

2) I learned you can't use the backrest adjustment button unless the car door is open.
I learned that my car does not have the residual heat button to allow warm air from engine into cabin when car is off. Weird it is not an option but standard equiptment yet mine does not have it !

Interesting. I wonder what option that comes with? I looked at your list and I also have Comfort Access and all your options except the Cold Weather and Heads Up. But my 2006 definitely does not have that button. I wonder if the functionality is there if you add the button after the fact...

I learned that you don't have to buy a special non-slip matt for your trunk. Just flip over the one you have and viola, the back of the matt is rubberized.

I have learned that sometimes when I get a call on my iphone, while standing in my kitchen and I can't seem to hear anything = my car is still running and the Bluetooth is still connected. Seriously, it has happened to me 2x. I pressed the button to turn the engine off and I either did not do it for long enough, or deep enough. The car is so quiet (or I am so deaf) that I have missed that it was still running. Door will still lock just fine.

Next, I've learned that the automatic shifter (and in general many other buttons and switches on the car) is like an advanced airplane's autopilot. You give it a command, then you have to see and verify that it actually acknowledged and is executing that command. I.e. every time I move the automatic gear lever I have to look at the reading either on the dash or on the lever to make sure it is in D or R.

Then I've learned that once in a while (I am still in the dark about this) when I get out of the car, and shut the door, the car will lock on its own and even beep. I have also learned that this behavior can't be reproduced at the dealer. Perhaps this is normal and the dealer has no clue. Perhaps right now I should look into the manual and read up on it. (I will after this post.)

I've also learned that after driving for 20 years, you can't get used to reading your speed off of the HUD even though you are already looking at it, you will still peak inside on the dash.

Finally, I have learned that the park sensor on the front must be turned on manually, and I learned that this is a good thing.

But the one thing I have really learned, is that I have never had anything that came close to this car.

Good thread!

Isn't it the best for allowing the cabin air to circulate without the wind noise? I love the fact that the rear window opens up.

I learned that if you lightly place your finger over one of the favorites buttons your favorites tabs will appear on the screen. I thought that theyonly appeared when you press a favorite button. I guess its good in case you don't remember which button a function is assigned to.

I also learned that the rear of the car lowers a little when I put the car in drive. I never noticed it until I was looking in my rear view

Learned something yesterday regarding the battery and the car's computer system. The car monitors the state of the battery which is why when the battery is replaced the new one needs to be registered to the car. When the car senses low cold cranking amps, it will disable elements of the electrical system so as to focus the remaining energy on the starter.

About a week ago I was getting my car washed and I get a call that it won't start. I stop down to investigate and I have all kinds of system failures and the car won't start. On the 4th or fifth try the car starts. A few days later it happened again and the car started on the fifth try but the power steering was disabled. The morning I went to get it checked out (bad battery replaced under warranty) the TPM system was out after finally getting it started.

Well, the battery died at the 3 year mark, actually 2 weeks before turning the car back in. Fortunately they picked up the tab even though I'm a classic short trip driver.

Black on black is nice as long as you don't mess it up by putting Alpha tags on the car. Just kidding. I have nothing but love for the orgs that make up the divine 9.

First time I had two people in the back and was told (and I saw) that the back of the front seats have 'space' for the knees of the back seat passengers. Creative.

The entire car looks like a shark if you ask me. The picture your signature is a perfect example:

1) The kidney nose are the nostrils placed close together
2) The headlights are eyes on the far side of the shark
3) The lower intake on the front bumper looks like an open mount.
4) The mirrors look like the small fins
5) The trunk has a slight upwards curve due to the bangle butt
6) Only thing thats missing is the top fin (the antennae on the 3 & 5 series would be a perfect match)

Its definitely one attractive shark!

I just discovered if you press and hold the button on the stalk that toggles between the date and the time, that it runs the system checks and tells you if you have any codes in the service info section of iDrive.
