I discovered that the auto tilting passenger mirror (when shifting into reverse) only does that when the mirror control switch for selecting driver vs passenger mirror is in the driver side position. If the switch is left in the passenger position, the auto tilt in reverse feature is disabled. This feature goes way back, and when the auto tilt worked intermittently on one of my 5 series, I thought it was an electrical glitch because I was randomly leaving it in either position but expecting the mirror to tilt. It is by design to only work when the switch is in the driver's position -- go try it.

Nice find! Thanks for sharing.

Today I just learn that it is always the ugliest car that wants to tail gate! What is wrong with them!

There was one time where I parked my car and I forgot to roll up the window so I decided to stick the key into the key hole (645ci) and then turn it so that everything closes. The weirdest thing ever was when I came back to the car, once I hit the unlock button on the key fob, the mirrors unfolded themselves! I am easily amused.

I discovered that I can enter a "New destination" through voice command instead of going crazy with the wheel... I just say "Enter address" and there it is asking you to spell the city and so on. It is fast and more convenient then using the wheel since you can do it while driving w/o getting your eyes off the road.

I'm sure there are lot more of handy commands that I haven't discovered!

Just discovered the headlamp washers don't spray every time you hit the windshield spray.

I learned you can adjust the relative loudness of the navigation 'voice'. When she's talking (and the radio is faded out) if you adjust the volume knob, she gets louder or quieter, and stays that way.

Talking

After a year now, I have discovered the following:

Headlamp washers are adjustable (when I first got the car they were srpaying straight up in the air and all over my hood, I thought they were clogged, but it turns out you can point them).

My headlight switch was pushed all the way in when I bought the car. (didn't realize until I read it on this forum that the default was pulled out, but I liked the look of it so much, I leave it in).

I also learned that if I roll the car in second at about 4000 RPM (35-40 MPH) and stomp on it, the rear tires will break loose.

And finally, I learned that my Wife does not appreciate speeds in excess of 120 MPH!!

I discovered that no matter how many times I stick my head in the passenger footwell, I can't find that secondary power outlet!

I had that problem with a girlfriend of 2 years. She seriously sat down with me one day after a hard driving session (in the car...) and said: "Look, you are way too into that car, you have to pick: me, or the car."

I'm single now.

Brake lights

I did not realize that our brake lights have two stages, half lights when normally braking and full lights when you brake hard and the ABS comes in.......
No doubt that people driving behind you have no idea what your brake lights are telling them ................

possible they omitted it in the version you purchased... it's fairly obvious basically if you sit in the passenger seat and lift your left leg up into the footwell, your foot will be resting on it... it's angled down somewhat abou 45 degrees...

Just found out in the 650 Convertible, you cannot press the all windows selection button while putting the top down (you can in the 645 Convertible) so when the top is down and the windows start to come back up you can put them all down quickly.

Also (and this is going to be a "Doh!") I just realized that when you are in the phone book listing, you can use the up/down steering wheel buttons (normally used to change radio channels) to move through the list.

Just found out that on the convertible you can 'create' extra space in the trunk. With the top up, there is a lever inside the trunk where the top is held when down. You pull that out and press forward and 'whala', additional space. Not that I will ever use it, but good info.

Also found the additional electrical outlet waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up under the passenger footwell.

Amazing what you find out when reading the manual...

Just discovered the folding mirrors automatically fold out at 25MPH if you forget to do it yourself. NICE!
