Back in a BMW- 1997 740i with under 100k

Well after saving for a while, I broke down and bought what I really wanted, a lower mileage Black on Black 740i. The car is a 2 owner off lease car and is in pristine condition save for one missing speaker cover in the rear door.

I have been reading a lot about the 740's and went over this car with a fine tooth comb. I have all the records and have talked to the dealers that it was serviced at. I jumped from driving my 3 series to this and feel like I am in heaven. I sold the 3 series about 4 months ago and have since been slumming it in my VW passat (soon to be up for sale)

Just wanting to re-introduce myself as a 7 series owner, I am sure i will use and contribute to this portion of the forum as much as I did in the 3 series section. I can't wait to put some miles on this...

Next thing on my list is a nice set of upgraded factory wheels, some tint, and perhaps i will tint the tops of the tails (orange section)..

Seems that the e38 DIY is pretty limited, most people take thier cars to the dealer huh?..

well people that have enough money do. personally, most of the stuff on the E38 is easy to do. i love my E38. thats a good buy man, hope you enjoy it. there's a few of us that actually are willing to tackle working on these.

I do most of my own work, I tend to allow the dealer to do oil changes and suspension (ball joints, alignments ect).. I have been turning wrenches on cars for about half my life (15 years) and the car doesnt seem that difficult, other then the fact that I can't find "much" specific e38 DIY installs (alternator on a 97, starter, waterpump, ect) I dont need to do any work to it yet, but I really like to be prepared..

I snapped a quick picture, its all stock, I looked at several and this was the cleanest example I saw. Very happy with my purchase.

You should check out www.e38.org if you want some DIY tips. Congrats on your new ride, its looking good from that pic. Also, they sell tail lights on ebay with the top already tinted.

Hoping to picking up a set of M-Pars tomorrow. I have to drive a few hours but I think it will be worth it.

I let my wife drive it today, and she is in love. She never understood the "bmw hype" (i had several 3 series cars prior to the 7) she is a believer now..lol ALTHOUGH... when it came back it was all muddy, so I dont know where she took it.. I gave it a quick late january bath and snapped a few pictures.
