Talking Style 89 wheels on my E38

well today was the day. i finally got my wheels. i've been hounding the dealership for these wheels since about October.

these Style 89 wheels are 19x9 in the front and 19x10 in the rear. they came off an E66 760Li, the owner did a little damage to them and decided to get a complete new set along with tires. now that i have them, they arent even that bad. i mean when i see the curb rash on my original wheels, it really doesnt bother me.

anyways, these look so good on my car. they really set it off. the tires still have a good bit of tread left, so i can wait to get new tires. i just love the way it looks now. sorry for the not so high quality pix, it was rainy and the light wasnt quite right to be taking with my iPhone.

well it rides good and looks even better. the tires im running are 245/45/R19 in the front, and 275/40/R19 in the rear. those fill the fender gap nicely. tires are Michelin Pilot Primacys. those wider rear tires give me so much more traction, its quite noticeable. getting about the same fuel mileage too. what a great investment these are.

id like to put the Sport model rear differential now though. i think that would improve accleration a bit. its still quick though, didnt really change.

I've never driven a sport model but always wondered if you could feel the difference between a 2.93 and 3.15 rear end. Either way I'd like to find one too.

Oh, and those wheels set that car off, they really look good on a E38.

a buddy of mine has some Michelin sport tires, he said $250 for the pair. these would be for the fronts. i'd like to replace them asap too. i think they are off his M3, they are also 245/45/R19 tires so they are perfect for what i need.

i think these look so much better than the M parallels personally. they are very hard to stop looking at. i'm so happy with my new wheels.

i wonder what i'll spend on a differential swap? also wondering if the speed sensor will need to be recalibrated at the dealership with the different gearing?

i'm being more careful driving around corners and overall on the road avoiding potholes and whatnot. my fuel mileage has increased 1 mpg already. wonder how long that will last, haha.

a number of months back, i dont rememeber how long, i had bent a rim. plus the two front tires were crap, they both had buldges in the sidewalls. so they've been in storege since. good think i didnt drive on em, one of the buldges split and that would have been an ugly blow out.

anyways, months back i had i the wheels dent fixed and have been waiting to get tires for the front, rears were fine. shoped around and found Discount Tire had the best price. i bought some Goodyear Eagle GT tires for the front. the wear rating is great so they should last for a good while. i got 245/45/19s again. i only paid $473, installed with warranty and all. i plan to get the same for the rears, but they are 275/40/19s. more expensive but from what i've read up on, they are great tires. not to mention an impressively low price for the sizes!

i've used Pirelli and had crap luck with them, thats what i had on the fronts. my 17s that the E38 came with a 1.5 years ago are already fairly well worn after only about 11000 miles. plus i always have to get them reballanced. dunno if its just bad luck or what. but now the 19s are back on and lookin sharp. hope to wash the car up tomorrow.

Looks great! Those wheels look much better on an E38 than on any E65/66.

i think so. they look a little small on E65/E66 to me. these make the E38 look updated and agressive with the wider stance and staggard setup. definately gets more attention from everyone that sees it.
