I'm serious about this issue, it's not about attention. That would be inappropriate and hypocritical. Not to mention the little insignificant point that I'm not making this stuff up. Every 2 - 4 months there is another incident or tragedy in aviation. I don't care how many flights there are, I find the frequency of incidents to be unacceptable.

Thank you. I mean, no one gets uptight every time someone posts another "Beerfart in a whirlwind" thread.

True but who would want to miss out on the opportunity to point out that more people die in cars than on planes for the gigamillionth time?

You can see human limbs in image 5 Poor people on that flight were pretty much blown into pieces

Amazing part is supposedly some 10 year old boy that survived.

+1 Annoying it may be, but no more than 90% of the other OT threads.

Now, off on my two day drive to Florida.

Moderato,

We all understand your phobia of flying, fine.

But simply reposting every news story about a plane crash doesn't accomplish anything. If you aren't comfortable flying, then don't fly.

What is the point of posting a new plane crash thread every 3 months? To show that it can happen? We all know that. We also know how frequently (or to be more precise, how infrequently) it occurs, and what the odds are, etc. etc.

So what's the point?

I don't care if they're white, black, or brown or whatever color skins they had. I don't care what religion or believes they had. It's always sad to see life lost in the freak accidents in a mass.

agreed, of course its sad...but I don't think Moderato is posting because he feels sad.

People die EVERY DAY due to terrible things, car accidents, murders, plane crashes, etc....

1) Before you criticise someone you should verify your accusations because if you're wrong it just makes you look petty and abnormally defensive. I wasn't the one who updated this thread today.

2) Perhaps you should send this question to the news media, they seem to feel that plane crashes are important enough to cover every time it happens and so do I. They are horrible tragedies that destroy families which happen on a regular basis and whether YOU want to deal with that stark reality is your choice.

Moderato, I apologize and stand corrected.

I thought YOU updated the thread, but I was wrong.

I have nothing against you or your fear of flying, I could care less either way.

No worries. I would fly if I really wanted to but there's no where I care to go now anyway. I do think planes crash too often and it's a scary way to go, plus there are things I want to accomplish in my lifetime that I haven't done yet like getting 1,000,000 posts on bimmerfest and I can't afford the risk.

I generally only get antsy hearing about incidents on a major NA airline that I might travel on at some point. I doubt that I'll find myself in a position of flying out of Libya or Afghanistan any time soon.. and if I did, I'd choose a major North American airline. Anything less than that you're basically taking your life in your own hands.

If you could walk away from a plane crash I'd be more inclined to agree. Alternatively, if you were to inconclusively prove that death would be more pleasurable then racking up 20K posts on bimmerfest OT then I would also be more agreeable to your suggestions.

I completely agree with you, NA and Western Euro airlines have higher standards but still it bothers me that whenever one of those things go down.

2 things I do to make flying more tolerable;

1) Ativan is my friend
2) Fly first class. If I'm going to die, I'm going in style, dammit
