slight clicking/popping noise

Getting a slight clicking/popping noise when i turn the steering wheel from side to side. It can be heard outside the car as well, coming from behind the wheel in the area of steering components, (not coming from wheel components i don't believe).
Every couple of months i just wait for a new issue to arise---HERE WE GO AGAIN

I had similar issue about 2 years ago. The dealer replaced the steering column and it went away. Not sure if this is the same problem you have, but my clicking noise was pretty low and it has to be completely quiet to hear it.

I had it fixed under warranty.

yeah, it needs to be pretty quiet to hear it, steering column sounds about right.

have you opened the bonnet (hood) & seen anything unusual?

I had the same problem after BMW did some from end work on the car. They had to take it back in and did something. It wasn't regular, had to take the service manager for a ride for about 20 minutes before it showed itself. When he heard it, he knew exactly what it was. Early 7 series has same issue as well. I believe it was a tie rod or something like that out of alignment - slightly installed wrong that made it happen. Nothing dangerous, but annoying to say the least. Oh, mine also acted up more when there was a passenger along with.

taking it in to have it looked at, it duplicates the problem pretty well so it should'nt be too hard to diagnose....
