Dealership forgot to order my car!!

Lease ends first week of a FEB went in early December and ordered my car. Got a call today that they forgot to the put the order in and they have stopped production of 2010's so now either have to take one with less options, or a different color combo than I wanted or have to wait till April for delivery of a 2011.

Wow! Have they mentioned how they intend to make it up to you?

call up BMW North America and voice your concern, they screwed up and need to make things right.

It is still January 2010 and they stopped making 2010 MY cars? You can't be serious.

It is what it is timing-wise; so, I guess you'll have to decide whether to settle for a 2010 that may not include every option you like or wait for a 2011. My question is whether you would have been in the same position (waiting) if the dealer had placed the order? I don't know off-hand, but it strikes me that it would have taken longer than 2, or even 3, months for a special order to be manufactured and delivered which, if so, would place you in a position similar to what you're in now. If I'm correct, then you're in a not much worse position if you were to special order a 2011 car. [Just another perspective.]

Wow! I would complain to the sales manager maybe they will give u a deal...If not do not purchase your car from them.

Ok update.

Supposedly they found one in the same color combo I wanted with the same options, but it is an xDrive model. I ordered without xDrive so they say that they will give me it to me for the lease payment I signed for. I was supposed to pick it up yesterday but they called and told me they had to update software, now today the excuse was it came with a dead battery. So tomorrow I will see what the story is.

Sounds like a good deal to me not to mention a serious attempt at a mea culpa. As someone who lives on the east coast I would prefer the xDrive, which itself is a more expensive feature. So, if they are willing to give you that feature at no additional cost AND you're getting the colour and options you want, I'd say the ball is clearly in your court as to whether the xDrive is a deal-breaker. By the way, it's not uncommon for the battery to go dead when a car has been not in use for a long while. I have seen new BMWs in my dealer's showroom connected to devices that keep the battery charged. From where I sit it appears that your dealer is making some serious efforts to meet your requests.

Oh I'm not complaining LOL I was more so worried about either having to settle for less features than I wanted or a different color combo than I wanted. I have gotten 4 7's an x5 a 6 series and an M6 for one of my clients from this dealer over the years so would have been very disapointed if they hadn't compensated me somehow for the screwup. I must admit after I put the order in I had second thoughts about having not gotten the xDrive model although I have a Range Rover and x5 I really use in the snow up here so wasn't a necessity .

I can understand the battery issue, but what software update could a newest MY car need. This will be the 3rd day I have been told it would be ready, so I guess i'll find out later.

Someone on the 6 forum recently wrote about an update to their iDrive sofware and how wonderful their system was performing after the update. Reading it made me think about calling my dealer to schedule an appointment for the same in my M6, but I tend to go by the adage of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", so I'll wait until my car tells me that it's time for service. I've pretty much decided to go to the 7 Series when the lease on my M6 is up in 2011; so, I'll look forward to reading your impressions regarding yours. I've become reacquainted with my Lexus GX470 that I've been driving for the past 2 weeks now that snow has arrived. I just saw an extended forecast which is predicting more snow this weekend and next week. I'm sure you would agree that it's a good thing to have an "extra" vehicle to drive for inclement weather conditions.

Ok finally got my car!

I had ordered Mineral White, Black leather and Ash Wood. They told me the one they had found to replace this contained that. When I got there turns out it was Alpine White with Fine Line Gloss trim. Manager said he hadn't even noticed yet which Im sure wasn't true, but my 07 750 was Alpine white so didn't mind the color and took the car any way.

So far loving the car, I must admit the iDrive takes some getting used to, even having had a previous 745 and 750.

Do you mean the top or bottom button? The bottom is Park Distance Control sensors on/off. Top is Hill Decent Control.

Im not too sure about that, would need to ask someone here with a 2010 without xDrive.

I have a 2010 w/out xDrive and I do not have Hill Descent Control. I do believe it is associated with xDrive - had it on my 2008 X5.

Nice 750. I love the new body styles. A lot of 7 owners, 750, except a few dont like the new design. Interesting to note I had a 735i 88 and loved how the shift handle was where it should be, not on the column. I think that would be one reason I'd buy that car. Have to wait a few years unless I go salvage, ahh I'll just wait.
