Aftermarket HID install

I have been searching all over the internet and have found some serious conflicting information.

I bought an aftermarket HID kit a while ago (H1) and am thinking of installing it in the 740i (1997).

All the links I see for this install are of retrofitting OEM lighting. Even with the OEM retrofit I have seen some people end up with errors on the display (bulb failure) ect..

Has anyone done an aftermarket HID install? If so what have the results been. My headlamps have the projector for the low beam..

I will post up the install when I do it, unless I find a reason not to install these..

Did the conversion. Went great, no error codes ect... Im really happy.

I used a pair of HID Slim ballasts with the resistor pack to prevent the error messages. works very well

Well the error codes started today. I guess I will have to buy the resitors... huh.

Before I installed the resistor packs, I was going through bulbs like there was no tomorrow - since the packs were put in, I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever, and have not had to replace any of the 4 bulbs.

BMW needs resistors to stop the messages. I ordered my conversion kit from www.hidextra.com for $60 shipped using coupon code "besthid-m" and they'll give you free resistors if you ask for them. Maybe you can buy another set for your foglights and ask them to send you two pairs of resistors.
