Hello All,
I just got back from the dealership and am afraid that they might have ruined my lights. Last week I had my control arms replaced under warranty and when I got back the xenon headlights did not autolevel and were pointing down, creating a problem in night driving. The first thing that came to my mind was that perhaps they didn't reconnect the autolevel sensor near the right lower control arm since dealerships are notorious for doing this, based on my experience with a 740 and other users here and at roadfly. I called them up and explained the situation and they said to drop by so that they could fix it. Today I took it in and reexplained the problem. I explicity told the guy at the counter, "please do not have them reaim the headlights," the problem seems to be something else. They said okay, and had me wait in the waiting room. A while later, I went back out to see what was taking so long and there they were, reaiming the headlights with the screws at the back of the headlights, something I could have done myself. When I asked the tech about this he said the sensor was connected, there was a computer fault, they cleared that and when that didn't solve the problem, they reaimed the headlights. The movement I get now is not the same as it was before I took it in. Before the headlights would move down, then up and then settle in the middle somewhere. Now there is a slight amount of movement but certainly not what was normal before. I'm frustrated by the whole ordeal! Has the dealer completely ruined any possibility of restoring this to factory specifications? What can I do now that the headlights are "reaimed?" Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Jack the car up, and turn the steering wheel all the way to the right. Attached to the control arm is a little two part hinged plastic thingy. Flip the arm the other way (it can flex a little), and you'll be back to the factory travel.

I should note that the plastic arm thingy is the xenon uto-level sensor.
