E92 Key problem

I have a key fob the original that came with the car, howver my key drives the car but it does not lock or unlock the vehicle or allows to open the trunk. any idea on what i could do to fix this. The key is programmed for the car and the key is to the car but those functions do not work. There is no comfort access for the key as it does not have the small battery on the fob. any advice would be great.

It's possible that that specific fob is for valet use only. Having said that, it disables any remote use (the valet would need to use the slide-out key to manually lock/unlock the doors) and does allow opening of any storage areas (in your case, the trunk) or the fuel door.

There is also the possibility that the key has a low battery charge. The fob is charged while in the dash as the car is being driven. It is recommended that you take a 4-5 hour drive with each key every 6 months or so to maintain battery life, so you may try using that key the next time you take a trip, and see if that fixes the problem.

I believe that a key can be coded out of valet mode, but I can not say for certain.
Surely a search on Google would help you find out this information.
