136000 miles Just bought it 3000 miles ago, so I have no idea what's been done, but damn it, it's been a ride. |

1999 540i 134,000. Same nonsense as Bluebee post. Vanos solenoid seals are $8.00 each ten minute job. I get the same mileage as you, but I don't have traffic or speed limits to deal with. Love the kickass torque, my '07 328xi gets its butt kicked by me everytime, except on ice and snow ??? I have seeps, not leaks but a nine dollar Wal-Mart drip pan takes care of it.
I do take care of trim details, and have had no drivetrain issues except for a $300. parts and labor charge for a new CV-joint on the final drive input shaft. Cupholders are the most expensive thing at $60. Alpine CD changer did jam -- sent it to ALPINE and spent $150. to get it fixed. I am on my third round of cupholders in five years. Join the local club and save a bundle. Best $50. you'll ever spend. |

I just hit 144001 K miles and as far as drivetrain problems only one the driveshaft. Not sure if it was done properly I have a vibration between 55-70 mph then it smooths out ?? Im thinkin my clutch is next on the list.

That's typically front wheel balance but there might be other causes.Thrust arm bushings, but not as likely. I also had driveshaft issues early on in my ownership, mine was replaced under CPO.

177k as of yesterday morning, i'm in the midst of a few choice suspension replacements, tires, and just finished my 2nd valley pan job.
My mom's '00 528iA now has 308k i think, never changed original trans fluid, one cooling system job that's about to be due for a 3rd.
