2000 540i Sport
160,000 Miles and running just as strong as day 1

Over the course of the years:
Dash Pixel's (replaced under goodwill from BMWNA. I started a post with steps to follow)
Complete cooling system
Complete AC System while under warranty (chasing grimlins)
Had two coil packs go out at one time (way bizarre)
MAF meter - replaced twice (BMW MAF 495.00....same MAF from Range Rover 175.00) (remember, Range Rover used BMW V8's up to 2004)
Water cooled alternator
2 batteries
Complete Front End rebuild right before warranty expired (Love my Indy)
Front Wheel bearings (did not indicate issues, but I am anal and changed them to be safe)
Rear driveshaft CV Joint and the Guibo Bushing too
Rear Wheel bearings
NAVII CD drive went out (replaced with MKIV DVD)
Since I went to MKIV I changed to the 16:9 screen while I was at it.

Rolled 190k during this morning's commute.

To celebrate, I'm doing a front end suspension overhaul and a new driveshaft/guibo/center bearing/u-jiont this weekend.

My odometer says 140,403 6 months ago, I had the radiator replaced and gasket leak. I do not see any leak so far -- exactly one month ago, I had replaced my bumper into Umnitza M5 Bumper -- so does this mean I have atleast 100,000 miles more to enjoy this car? anyway, what is "Vanos" ...some of the terminology I've seen here are alien to me. You guys seem to know a lot about BMW's

I had to drum up this old post: I met the father of my son's friend who owns a 2002 530i Sport with 26,XXX miles! Needless to say, it is in excellent condition. He only uses it to go to dinner with his wife and friends and other special occasions. He is the original owner, of course.

Mine, 2001 530i Sport, is second hand and I'll hit 139K today.

Oh yeah, no major engine or drive train issues thus far.

Too many little things need attention to list here.

Current repairs were listed in other threads!

2001 530i...just hit 100k this weekend. Felt kinda excited and sad at the same time to see 99,999.99 miles rolled into 100k.

Vanos is the variable timing system. The Vanos seals are defective on all e39s. See beisansystems.com for the full explanation what is the problem and the benefits for changing. About 4 hrs DIY.

My '02 (my second e39) just turned 77K and other than routine maintenance, I've replaced my CCV, Vanos seals and all front suspension components. She runs like new.

2003 530i/5 Sport Premium.

Now 80K.

Not a damn thing wrong with her!

She's had a pre-emptive cooling rebuild (was fine, but original), new clutch (also pre-emptive), rear main and major engine tune up.

Warranted through 100K with Penske.

Worth it?.

Hey guys, new here... But thinking/hoping to buy a 540i... 6-SPF manual... The only thing I def. want is a manual tranny. Other than that I'm basically open about it. I found one near me that looks really nice.. Exactly what I like... But it has about 160k on it!! My question is... Is that too many miles for a 540 for $6700??? It looks soo nice and I want it.. But I don't want a ton of headaches... I understand there are always problems with older cars, just don't want something will need repair every month

Thanks for your input guys... Here is the car by the way...
