Yup . There's lots of good synthetic oils that are all compatible . And not that I want to get back on my soap box but ... If I had a dremel tool handy , I would have removed the Castrol name from my oil filler cap . They're owned by BP . Just sayin ...

end of political rant

Today we got earthquake. I was driving that time and didn't feel anything. Good suspension. Other people on other cars felt like car shaking.

HMMMM.....1974 2002 manual with an E30 (I think he said) motor in it with about 100k on it. Body has 80K, "Texas car" maybe.

Beat up paint but body is realitively straight. Fun project for about a $1,000?

Lexus Off-Topic

A co-worker asked me about a maintance quote he got from his Lexus dealer - new serpentine belt, air filter, hvac filter and wiper blades for his 2005 IS300. He's a younger guy who has never done any work on any car in his life, so there aren't a lot of options for him, and living in Manhattan, he doesn't know of any indy's that might fit the bill. The total quote for those items was $375. HFS! For a belt and two filters?!?!?

I told him to order the parts from Zygmunt, and today we went out and swapped the parts. It took about 15 minutes. When I popped the three spring clips and changed the air filter in under 60 seconds he was a bit stunned about the quote. The AC filter on that car is tougher than the e46 (it's behind the glove box), but far easier than on my wife's Quest (buried in the vertical dash stack). The serpentine belt has a spring tensioner, so it was really easy. I was pretty pleased with how the engine and stuff was all laid out under the hood. The older IS's were nice, though they never put a manual tranny ont he 3.0 liter.....

^^ I actually considered an IS300 (or was it a IS350?) when searching for a new ride, but dang it I just couldn't accept those fugly clear and chrome tail lights Plus, there only seemed to be 100k+ mile ones within my budget

Totally childish but I can't help it, I'm still laughing...

Possibly NSFW.

And if that didn't do it...

Hope I made you smile today.

oh, that's right... somehow i was only thinking about 7-series maybe because of the v12, and forgot about the 5...
ya, that really looks like a E39, but why would E39 have a v12 stock? i don't seem to recall such a thing.

Ok, I need a little help. I have a laptop power cord here, it has a round barrel looking thingy closer to the plug that goes into the laptop. I read that it's a filter (or "choke") for stabilizing the electrical current or something along those lines. My cord is worn out somewhere between this thing and the plug. Would it be safe to cut and bypass this filter? Or not really?

Thanks, I know there are a lot of computer geeks here

MotoGP tickets on sale
https://mazdaraceway.com/pages/news-item?r=I663TWS2CA

Place:
Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Monterey, CA

date:
July 22-24 weekend, 2011

i think the sunday-only general admission is usually $50 or more.
there's $10 discount now (until dec. 31), but i'm not sure if that's the best deal.

July 24 is a little far from now... who knows what happens later.. maybe Rossi got injured again before the Laguna Seca Grand Prix.
so i hesitate now whether to take the advantage of that $10 discount.
