If any NY, NJ or PA festers are looking, some of us are getting together this Sunday at 3:00 at the Long Valley Brew Pub in Long Valley NJ for a few beers and talking about BMW's and other nonsense. All are welcome.

We don`t expect people from Pittsburgh, but it`s only 30 minutes from the Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton area....

The bimmer is awesome! This is my 3rd winter with it now, she's been very loyal. Just turned 100,000 km (not sure how many miles that is but it's still pretty low). I found an excellent indy mechanic in town that does a good job of keeping it up with regular maintenance. So far no major problems! I'm going to have a little body work done in the spring, I have the beginnings of a couple rust spots over the rear fenders, from the salt they use here on the roads in the winter, no doubt.

I've thought of trading up to something newer but I'm just really attached to my e46, it fits me like a glove. I'm going to drive it until she won't drive anymore

I contemplated newer, but after a few months toying around in the ladies E90...I took a step sideways and haven't been happier.

Had to change the 'intake silencer' (dealers $100 word for Air Filter) on the E90 because the dealership wanted $120 in labor to do it. You have to remove the intake boot from the MAF, unbolt the two 10MM bolts holding the housing to the chasis, then remove the ENTIRE setup from the car to access the 6 torx screw holding the housing together....WTF, who designed that to be so complicated?! It's a fun car, but boy is it good to know it's under warranty and that I still know how to work on my M54 Z

Point being, I loved the E46 but I simply get tired of cars after a few years. After the Z....I'm not sure what platform I'll have to jump to that'll allow me to still be a shadetree mechanic yet still have the joy filled smile I do when I get out and drive....

Random, but I hate allergies.... But I suppose driving fast makes one forget the sniffles and the tissues.

60,000 miles. 1 mile = 1.6km

The Z4M coupe was my second choice to the M3, but I don't think I'd be able to live with just 2 seats even with another car as a DD.

Boy do I miss driving my car, 3 months is a long time when you aren't driving a Bimmer, and only another 3 months till I pull her out

Try cross-country skiing (preferably in the woods on a hilly trail). Great fun, and great cross-training for cycling. As soon as you embrace winter, it becomes another just season with different things to enjoy.

I'm sick of snow. The muscles in my legs are diminishing from the lack of pedal pushing. [/QUOTE]

Agree! I'm just a few hundred km short of 100,000km (that's 60,000 miles for our US friends), and just love the 325xi. It's the perfect size, and the AWD and extra clearance of the xi suit our winters well. I plan to keep it a long time, and probably will since I don't drive that much per year. (I have the luxury of being able to walk or bike to work when the weather allows).

Looking forward to driving up to Tremblant this weekend for some skiing! (When winter's 5 months long, best to embrace and love it!) Bring on the snow!

I would love to see BMW let M build a car from the ground up.

Last time they did that was 1978, and resulted in this: (the original M1)
