Seems like I do a good job pissing people off on this forum. I guess Fanatics is wearing on me.

Edit: Didn't Lamborghini helped with the design and production of the M1? Therefore BMW M technically wouldn't have built it themselves, unlike that horrendous Z3 concept.

A new BMW supercar *would* be nice, but not affordable for more than a handful of people. I would rather see more practical and affordable projects, specifically a hot 3-series wagon with sport suspension, 300 RWHP, manual trans, and proper LSD to get the power to the ground....

Same here, the lack of the back seats ruled out the car for me. Otherwise I'd probably be driving one today

The 1 Series M is no doubt an amazing car but there is something about the styling and engine I can't get over, though it may look better in person. To me, if it doesn't look good in Alpine White, it's not worth getting

I feel the same way....the car looks like a squashed jellybean Just something awkward and "not right" about it....Even more importantly, it`s a PORKY little sucker, I think it only weighs around 50 lbs. less than the (bigger) 3-series. They need to get the weight down to right around 3000 pounds.

1-series M is the same thing as a E46 M3 just looks newer... .I've been saying this since it was said it was coming out. Although at least you can tune it to be faster since it's turboed.

There's an Alpine White one driving around in my area and my god it is BEAUTIFUL. I saw it driving home the other night and he was in the far left turn lane waiting for the light, so I slowed down to about....10mph so I could just stare as I went by. Pictures really don't do it justice, it looks so much more aggressive in person, it's fantastic.

If I had $30-35k extra in my bank account, that's the car I would've bought. I sat in one at some auto show and I really liked it. Felt like a modernized e46

Yeah....kinda like they put an E46 in a big vise, and shortened it up by about a foot....

If production had continued into Spring of 2012 like BMW said it would (instead of ending it in December) I would have been able to buy one with cash in like 3-4 months. Now? Not so much. Only local dealership that has one wants $20k over MSRP.

Seems like there are a few people already selling them. I've seen a 10K mile Alpine white for $50K.

What does it actually say on the window of the car on the MSRP paper?.

Haven't looked at the car in person yet, but asking price is $74,630, base MSRP according to BMW is about $46,000, and the average price I've been seeing out the door (without markup) is about $54k.

So in other words wait about 2-3 years and pickup one for 25k or less

Lol I know how you feel. Although I tend to be patient when the time is right... like right now. I want to buy another condo 2 or 3 bedroom on the beach or a house. It was either keep saving for those or buy an E60 m5. And well... I haven't bought the E60 m5 yet lol. I'm doing good so far!. Got to keep holding myself back!

Well... yeah, aesthetically the E46 is definitely superior. But I prefer the 1's interior, and they do drive really nice (even the 135s). I was pretty close to buying a 135 actually. If it had an LSD, I probably would've

I don't really remember the interior of the 1 series but the 135 I drove was a dream. Nice heavy steering, planted suspension, it was great except for that stupid SSG which had horrible response. I actually love the driver oriented dash in the E46 and the central controls, it's nothing like any other vehicle and that was one of the things I was looking forward to when I got back in one.

From what I read, when they decided to stop production in December they had made around 2700 worldwide, 1000 for North America.

So yeah, called the dealership to ask about the $74k price tag on their 1 Series M, and they confirmed it's just a flat $20k markup.

My thoughts exactly. Now the plan is to just wait a few months until i have the cash in hand, and then go looking for a pre-owned. The bright side of that is, it probably means the car will be done with the break-in period, so I can flog it all over the place on the drive home.
