All of the snow and rain we've gotten has made it impossible to keep a washed car clean for more than 48 hours. I don't think I've washed my car since November.

On the other hand, all of the mechanical upkeep I've been doing in lieu of detailing the car has been very satisfying.

If you get pulled over with a v1, no way in hell your going to get a warning though.

^^ thats why you hard wire it, so you can flip the visor down and its out of sight.

I've put 380 miles on my bimmer since 9am yesterday morning!!! I'm trying to see if i can get 1000 before Wednesday! doesnt seem too interesting but for some reason, I'm loving my car that much more.... the joy of an 11 yr old car.. lol!!

He would be able to see it when he walks up to the car, and especially if he decided to come around the passenger side of the car.

Yeah, but it brings reality home: I want to speed but the cops say No no no. It means, next time I'm pulled over = ticket. hence the sad emoticon.

I need to research if we have tracks in OK, where I can get my speed fix. My beef is with purposeless slowing down. If it's a nice long HW with no houses, and not a lot of traffic I see no need in doing 45mph, when 65 is perfectly safe.

I dont have a V1, I was saying that if the cop saw your v1/radar its 100% that your getting a ticket. I dont know about OK, but in MN "warnings" dont go on your record, so you can keep getting asked to slow down.

I misread your quote.

The state trooper log their warnings, I think, cuz the guy told me next time it's a ticket. But I got a warning a month ago from a city cop. So I don't know. The point is simple, don't speed, that's why I need to find a track. I'm sure there are some.

Yeah, I guess it varies state to state.
Low Enforcement = High Fines
Heavy Enforcement = Low Fines
For me, there arn't enough troopers on the highway for me to consider getting a v1. My city is crawling with cops though. They have wayy too many, they dont need that many..

My ticket was only $150, and my insurance went up only like $5 bucks...

However, coming from a state with low speed limits and itchy fingered police where radar detectors actually are illegal, there is a lot that can be said for driving like a long distance rally driver.

Checking all points around you, being generally aware of what is going on on all four of your sides at all times, aware of where police can sit, and able to quickly identify vehicles that can be police officers. I generally don't speed excessively, and when I do its not for long periods of time. I usually average 5-15 over with the general flow of traffic and have never gotten a ticket, only a spoken warning once, and that was the 325i, not the M3.

Being hyper-aware of your surroundings does a lot for accident avoidance IMO as well. I've only done one brief track session but I feel like the experience was enough to change how I drive on the street and make me able to notice potential problems a lot earlier and compensate for them.
