Question Furthest Traveled to Bimmerfest 2010? (Journey to Pasadena)

I've seen a few posts from attendees who will be travelling from far away places to this year's event, and hope that I can get all of you to chime in on this thread so that we have some idea (in advance) who the contenders are. It will also be really fun to follow your journeys here!

Anchorage, Alaska about 3551 miles one way. I'm planning to drive my 1981 323i baur. Should be fun if it makes it one piece through Canada....

I was going to mention that there are few cars from Vancouver and Surrey are going to be in the PNW caravan. But Anchorage definitely tops it all!

This is to be updated so it's best for all coming from the east in our caravan, but so far here's the route I'll be taking:

http://www.mapquest.com/maps?1c=Otta...en_US:M:/bl:/e

Not as far without detours as Anchorage, but I'll find it more fun to drive in a massive (hopefully) convoy. As it stands, 3928.34 miles.

My passport card came in the mail on Friday, I can get in and out of Canada now, I ordered my brakes for the baur Friday, I dropped off the crappy fiberglass replacement piece for the broken part of my zender body kit at a body shop Friday with hopes thay can make it look ok... and my mother-in-law is coming to help out the wife with the kids for the whole month of May while I'm gone. I'm guessing it'll take me about 7 days to get to San Fransisco.

I still need to get some resonators welded on my exhaust or I will be deaf and ready to kill someone by the time I get there, I need to order some new tailights from Germany since mine don't work (not something I use very often here where it doesn't get dark), and I need a set of tires, I should take 2 spares but I don't think I'll have room for 2 spares. I also need a sponsor, I'm looking at over a $1000.00 in gas alone....

I'm a little nervous about driving a 29 year old Bimmer across the wastelands of eastern Alaska and Northern Canada where cell phones don't even work though. I made this trip once 10 years ago in a much newer car...

It will be like an episode of Top Gear. Should be a nice ride for you

Are you doing this alone?

Yup going solo it's hard to find a group of people that can take off for almost a month to do this. Needless to say if I go to bimmerfest again I'll have either moved back to the lower 48 or I'll be flying in.

I might be coming from Toronto... but I'll be flying out so that doesn't really count as a journey

Did you see this? http://bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=442226

Email Josh Pomer josh@thesurflab.com and tell him Shafe referred you. Not many people have seen Bimmerfest as up-close and personal as you have Keith.

Josh's latest feature documentary debuted at The Santa Cruz Film Festival this week, and is expected to take best documentary. You know me, I don't futz around. This is the real deal. Check out The Westsiders.

Yes Jon, I saw it, I was just messin' with ya. I emailed him when you first told me about it and I've heard nothing. In fact, I haven't seen a post by the guy since his initial thread. The caravan has been thrown back in my lap. Kris Linquist was supposed to take over this year, but emailed me a couple days ago and said he couldn't do it now.
So I'm trying to get something together "last minute" (for me at least)

Talk with you soon Brother.

Oh sh*t times two... :-/

Well, I think it's a good thing whether you recognize it or not.....

Josh has been swamped getting ready for the world premier of The Westsiders, a film he's been working on for the last 5 years. Being from the Bay Area, I reckon you already knew that my brotha...

Well I got my 81 323i Baur out of storage yesterday and drove it home. Now I have the brakes to put on it, and the many other things to do before I can take it on a 7000 mile trip. After 6 months in storage I forgot how bare bones that car is in comparison to even my 85 535i or my 96 M3, Should be a fun trip. The suspension in the baur is really stiff....

well a little more than a month before I start my trek.
