Talking Seat Switch/Motor Problem?

Hi from Down Under

I have a 2001 Z3 Roadster and the Driver's side seat switch when enabled to adjust the seat up and down does not operate and there is no whirring sound. I have seen entries in Google refrring to the seat motor jamming but the site couldn't be accessed . Is there such a thing and how is it rectified.

I would apptreciate anyone's help on this one to give me an indication from their experince if I have a switch or seat motor problem and the rectification of the problem.

Regards

John,

If the seat still moves front to back, you can remove it and get a better look at the mechanism. Then you can inspect for binding or broken wires.

I just did a car that the fore/aft motor wasn't working. I was able to remove it and get it working again.

To test the switch/motor for power, unplug the connector at the motor and read it with a DMM (voltmeter).
