What's in the welcome kit? - Bimmerfest

I went by the dealership yesterday to finalize all the paperwork and he asked me if I had gotten my welcome kit yet. Three years ago when we did our first ED they had just stopped sending the Gumby clocks. What kind of goodies are they sending now?

Luggage tags. The welcome kit was a dissapointment.

I liked the light-up BMW pens. In fact, I liked them so much I found a manufacturer and we had Basex pens made as corporate gifts.

I was really excited waiting for it and was disappointed when I got it. Two plastic luggage tags and 3 brochures as TeeZee commented on. wohoo.........

How far in advance of the trip do you get the kit? Sounds very useful for planning the trip & making reservations....

Got mine about 3 weeks ago so about 3 months out from my ED date

Got mine yesterday.... Ordered the car barely 3 weeks ago and I'm 6 months out from pickup. Not much to the kit and since everything for the trip is already booked, not much use at all. Actually it does serve to slow down the clock even further but i wouldn't call that a benefit.

Sadly gone are the days of the Gumby. I did like the luggage tags though.

Yes; given that (sign of the times) I am still kind of shocked that they would send a couple of brochures and tags via Fed Ex. Shipping costs are more than the items inside.

Not for large corporate accounts. In fact we use FedEx for int'l "first class' mail at lower than USPS rates.

LOL! I had two and gave one to B-Y a couple of years ago. Come to think of it, I don't know where the other one is... Better check Ebay!

I also like the luggage tags, as they are much more useful on a daily basis (I have one on my computer bag). Furthermore, I would hazard that the concept of the Gumby clock was that it could be used during your trip as an alarm clock. Now that a lot of us travel with a phone, and most phones have alarm clock features, they seem slightly unnecessary.

If you are travelling around Munich, the Quick Reference Guide in your welcome kit does have a very nice "centerfold" map of all the public transportation (S Bahn, tram, etc) routes/stops.

I'm feeling left out now - got the luggage tags but no BMW light-up pen.

The whiners complained about the pen then they complained about the clock now there complaining about the tags. You know BMW doesn't have to give you any of those things . So stop whining and be glad there giving you something.

Haven't had your first cup of coffee yet Vern? Lighten up. It's all in good fun. At least we didn't whine about not getting 2 cars with our 2 luggage tags....thought maybe BMW would throw in a "matching" vehicle.

I don't drink coffee. LOL Do a search about the pens and the clock and you will see what I mean about the constant whiners.
