1988 735il seat belt height adjust

I can't get the driver's side seat belt to lower at the door post. The passenger side is much lower. Is it stuck, electric or is there a push/pull something somewhere? Thanks

I've tried to push it in and slide it down, but it won't budge, last night I read that they adjust along with the seat through a cable, but it may be another model. I haven't had time to go out and look today. Anyway, a guy made me an offer for my 735il If he comes up with the cash, I'll be looking for another fixxer upper, lol

Ok, Ok, I went out just now. They are controlled with cables hooked up to the seat mechanism. They go under the carpet to the front of the seat, go through a little pulley on the front and go towards the back of the seat where they hook up to a little eyelet. It's silly, I'm short and use the seat up high. The one in the passenger side was already unhooked and the seat belt was low, my kid is 6'4" and it was uncomfortable for him so I pulled it tight and fastened it to the chair with a screw, now it's high. I unhooked mine on the drivers side and now it's low so I don't get the seatbelt in the neck. yay. what a silly way to adjust them. They should have been manual from the start. Oh well. It' a 1988. They didn't know any better back then : ) Thanks for the motivation.

how 'bout that. i have an 89 750, but i don't remember a cable. maybe it was a change?? i haven't gone out to check, and i probably will forget since they're already set for me. sorta like seat adjustments. they don't change since i am the only one that drives the vehicle.

anyway, glad that you got it sorted out.
