Bad day

:

Well..... I bought 4 of these.

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....num=435WR0GTXL

And after 6500 miles on them the picture describes best what exactly happened. I'm driving down the interstate and my tire pressure light comes on, so I slow down and get into the slow lane. As my speed lowers from 80MPH I look in my rear view mirror for traffic and see smoke and smell tire. I then hear a "thud" sound and the car pulled itself to the left and I ended up in the grass! If there was a car next to me there would have definitely been a bad accident.

So I get out, call the tow truck, we get it to the shop, put it on the lift and notice all 4 tires are split in the inside... I was outraged so the shop called Goodyear for me and got the tires warranted out. Except the warranty only covered a pro-rated amount based on tire wear.

So a few hundred dollars later I got my car back. Glad to be alive and with new tires but pissed off about the performance of these tires. The shop manager said I was 1 or 2 bad pot holes away from a disaster.

Anyone have a good tire hook-up? I'm looking to get 4 brand new tires and use these as spares.

Wow! First off, glad that you did not get into an accident with anyone and you are ok. Had that experince before and I know how scary it can be. This is one of the reasons why I stick with the RFT even though some say they are not that great for a regular driver, but for me I would not switch to anything else.

wow those tires are cheap... I have eagle F1's on my acura and they rock...

Just bought continental DWS for my 6er... they seem well rated and back when I lived in PA I used conti's in snow and they were great... they only slipped when I was going 80 in freshly plowed snow... (I know I was stupid back then)...

nice carbon hood/trunk... where did you get them?

only good thing is when you buy local, warranty issues are easier to handle...

but it's very surprising they all failed at the same time... must be a combination of temperature and speed....

did you have any problems towing the car? It seems kind of low... no flatbed available?

I actually purchased the goodyear GT when i was looking for tires about 1.5 yrs ago. Drove it for a few days and didnt like the feel. It felt like I was driving on marshmallows compare the RFTs.

Since I got it at discount tires and I told them I wanted something else and they offered me Bridgestone Potenza. I am pretty happy with it thus far.

Glad I didnt stick with the goodyear.

Have a look at the Vredestien tires, very very impressive, and slightly cheaper than the contis...i have got a set of them with my 20 inch wheels, and you have to look the design of the tread on the wheels, looks the best in my opinion and in europe they are already being rates amongst the other top brands. My local tire shops consider them even better than the contis, however, as sturdy as these wheels are, they are no so good performers in wet conditions. Good luck

Wow makes me wonder if there might be a recal on them. Since they failed so miserably and are now discounted heavily? Glad you are ok but make sure you keep any pictures etc incase you need to go after them for any other damages caused from the accident. I would look into contacting the nhtsa about the incident.

Yes you should be very glad you didn't stick to them. I ended up going with these

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....5YR0SPORTPS2XL

If anyone has any experience with them fill me in. 1200 bucks for tires just put a small dent in my wallet. Ok... Who am I kidding. a BIG dent in my wallet.

Thank you so much I had no idea about the agency you just spoke of. I will be filing a report with them tomorrow. I appreciate that.
