Planning ED around Monaco Grand Prix
Has anyone planned ED around the Monaco Grand Prix? I am planning my 4th European Delivery for a 2011 E92 M3 and I want to go to the Monaco Grand Prix. What's the best place to purchase tickets and some good hotels in Nice that anyone can recommend would be greatly appreciated.

I try to avoid it since the hotels in Monte Carlo, Nice and Cannes would be off the chart. Say booking a EUR500 / night hotel in regular time, it would cost you EUR1,200 per night. It doesn't help that Cannes film festival is around the same time. And I am sure a lot of them are booked already.
By the way, time is cutting close. April is around the corner, so you have, what? 6~7 weeks?

Thanks for the advice. I found a couple of hotels in Niece for $200 a night and they have availability for those dates.
Just realized that the dates are getting closer and still have to sell my 2009 M3.

We're still working on accomodations, but they can be found in the general vicinity for relatively reasonable rates. You may need to stay in a city outside of Nice or Monaco (there are lots of great places along the French and Italian Riviera that are within 30 miles of Monaco). Go here for information and tickets: http://www.yourmonaco.com/grand_prix Good luck, and have a great time there. I know we will! Steve |

Based on my recent experience witnessing the traffic in Nice and Monaco, no way I would drive and/or park my new BMW expecially around the time of the Grand Prix. Stay at least 25 miles away and find public transportation into Monaco.

Monaco Grand Prix
We went to the Monaco GP several years ago and rented a house in Eze which worked out very well. As for transportation into Monte Carlo on race days the traffic is hours long slow. One day, I think the Sunday race day we drove to Nice and took the train and walked to the race. This is what I would do again for convenience and the experience.
In '07 we picked up our 3 Series convert and were in Monaco a couple of days after the race. I managed to get a top down picture of my new car on the hairpin turn holding up traffic and of course at the Casino turn. Have fun, it's a once in a lifetime experience where the actual race is beside the point. |
