A new rendering of the next 6

Here's an article on bwmblog.com (no real news in the text except they did mention that the vert is a soft top - ???), but contains a nice potential pic of the next 6.

Hmmm....not too bad looking but I would have to see it in more detail. Soft top? My dealer was telling me that it will be in hard top. BMW is transitioning over to all hard top. The most recent conversion was the Z4 so the next one is the 6. The 1 series is matter of trunk space if they do it. The 2011 release is almost here so we will see for sure what this new 6 looks like.

I personally doubt the soft top as welll. Looking at the spy footage and photos, the top's roof line doesn't meet the windshield perfectly and that lack of a rear window (with that totally fake plastic angled window thing) makes me believe they want to simply further obfiscate what the 6 will look like.

Yep, looks definately like the hard top will be in store for the 2011. The nose looks like it will not slant as much the current, probably taking a page from the 7 series where the nose got squared off a bit.

the video definitely supports a hard top... I think people will lose the ability to lower the rear window separately...

no more bangle butt looks like... I kinda like the uniqueness of the rear in the current 6... makes it stand out...

biggest thing about the new version is likely it will be a biturbo v8... although that means better mpg, it also means more parts to break (expensive parts)...

Our cars are heavy enough I dont think there going to add any more weight with a hard top I mean look they didnt do it new the Jag or 911 and as for as the benz has no back seat also hard top convertables have zero trunks too...

The trin-turbo upgrade can be easily tuned to handle the added weight of a hard-top shell. Further, the body of the six currently is relatively large, as such, I think they can easily fit a hard-top into the trunk and still provide decent trunk space.

As far as losing the ability to lower the rear window seperately - I hope we don't, as that is one of my favorite "option" in a the six.
