Well, if doing a motor swap/upgrade (tearing top half down, cleaning & painting it), installing coilovers, upgrading/converting to ellipsoids, and rewiring half of my cockpit counts, then yes, I've been getting ready/detailing since Christmas.

Wouldn't you know it....friggin' driver side door handle on the inside snapped off yesterday!!
Got a replacement coming in so I can at least get out of my car at Bimmerfest without looking all ghetto by rolling the window down and pulling the outside handle lol!! Hopefully next weekend I'll have her in the body shop to repair the damage to my M5 front bumper/Mtech rear bumper and the dent in the rear driver side door (thanks to a hit n run accident. my car was just a casualty parked by the curb). last thing will be to get rid of my door/fender moulding and get the all black ones to match my bumper mouldings.

Nice E46s guys. Jon clean E36. I respect that highly. There just aren't that many clean E36s any more. Perhaps we need to get ours together for some pics.
Cliff I have to get my seat out sometime and see whats under there....

I can't start my usual AIO/SG routine until my new paint has had 60 days to cure, which will be the week before the Fest. Sammy of Premier installed a clear bra on Monday. A parcel came in the mail from Würzburg today. I think I have one last mod to do before I call it quits

I wish I could just get away with a clay and wax, and shiny stuff! Every year I bring a different car, and this year is no exception. The car has been purchased, the concept complete, and work has begun. Hopefully it will all come together in the next month! I always seem to be burning the midnight oil two days from Bimmerfest. Maybe this year will be different........okay most likely not! I can't wait!!!! A little over a month to go.

I got my missing bumper piece installed, now I have to reinstall the grills and turn signals. It isn't a perfect fit, but when you are matching a poor fiberglass replica with the original abs plastic things don't look perfect, but it'll have to be close enough.
I ordered my new taillights today from W&N in Germany 180 euros with shipping which is actually $20.00 less (after you convert the euros to dollars) than the dealer which didn't have any anywhere in the BMW network anyway....Having working tail lights is probably a good thing for down there, up here who cares it's never dark in the summer anyway. I didn't even know they didn't work for the first 4 months I owned the car. I even got my new tires mounted on the rims. I still have to tune the car, and install the reonators to cut down on hearing damage, then I can do the clay, buff, polish and wax routine, then I'll get to do it again once I get down there since the car will be filthy from the trip. I'm in deep now, I've spent way too much money on this and I havn't even left yet. I'm surprised my wife will still talk to me.... I leave here on the 6th of May to head that way.

The weather finally turned seasonal around here so I decided to begin today. My engine bay will never be as spotless as one of Ron's creations, but then I don't dismantle my car as a prerequisite step. I cleaned the engine bay, but it still needs a wipe down and a bit of attention with some 303. The wheel wells are done, and I've finished washing, claying, and drying the car. I'll pull out the Porter-Cable after I have some lunch.
Edit: After lunch I corrected a few small problem areas left from the body shop. I ditched my Griots polishes in favor of Menzerna this year, and I like working with Menzerna much better. The cutting polishes seem to cut more effectively, and the finer grades brought the gloss right back. And with almost no dust, which is totally unlike Griots. After polishing I used the P-C to apply a coat of AIO, then added the first of several layers of SG. I'll let that SG dry overnight while I enjoy a glass or two of wine

Just finished all maintenance. I'll probably wax it before I go and possibly repaint my trim on the outside if the misses helps.... I suck so bad with spray paint it's horrible.
JON! put the surf rack back on! it looks naked lol.

mine is filthy, my silver wheels are red and I have 3200 miles of dirt...I have all the stuff to do a detail with me, I just have no place to do the detail. My Uncle lives in a condo so there is no place I can do that here. I'm pittsburg CA now east of San Fransisco a little ways.
