Pre-Fest Detail

Friday before the fest I wash and wax my Z4. Then later that night I wash and wax my Mom's 128i, then my brother will wash and wax his 325Ci. We're bringing a lot of shiny BMW gray!

Well, it's not my car but I do personally like them the way they are. I guess I am tired of the all black look as it seems to be a trend that is on every black car now.

No worries Jon. I am adept at smiling and lying to people when I remark 'yeah, that looks great!' The main thing is the wheels are out of my garage and in yours now

well I found a driveway of a fellow E21 legion member and got to get ot the porter cable. I still have the tailpipes to work on, the engine, and the inside, but at least the outside is clean....

I picked up tons of bugs on a 750 mile trip through central California on the California Targa a couple of weeks ago. So you may acquire some more before you get to Southern California.

I went for a 100 mile cruise in the highlands Southeast of San Jose after my clear bra was installed a few weeks ago, and the bugs were out in full force. I hosed a couple of still twitching grasshoppers out of my grill once I returned home. The bugs are probably thriving with this wet Spring we're having.

If any business owner in the Pasadena area has a few faucets, hoses and some shade, I can think of a hundred or so cars that would pay a few bucks to rent some of that for a bit next Friday afternoon.

at least with it all buffed and waxed the bugs will slide off. I don't have a show car so perfect isn't needed for me lol.

Tomorrow I have plans to go into San Fransisco with my Uncle and have dinner with my Grandpa. So as much fun as that would be I'll be hanging out with my family tomorrow.

I will be going to the BMWCCA auto-x on sunday though at Great America.

I'm headed to San Diego Next thursday to pick up some new seats from aardvarc, so I'll have a clean up spot at the palce i'm staying in corona on thursday.

I will be driving a Nikon - the gravel at the Great America site is not compatible with my new paint.

I'm used to gravel, in alaska they gravel the parking lots for winter traction, and most of the time it isn't picked up until late may....

Steve, i'm pretty sure I saw your 1802 touring! I was at the Brisbane Marina show, some beautiful cars there.

I think there were a couple orange (inka) tourings up there on Saturday. Unfortunately I wasn't one of them. Love the Brisbane show and all the cars up there, but had to choose between Brisbane or Bimmerfest this year, and Bfest won. Hope to see you there.

I actually may be done with my car before Friday!!!! I thought for sure I would be burning the midnight oil to get everything completed, but I am almost done.

Every year I bring a different car to Bimmerfest and this year is no exception. Last year I had two cars under construction and only made it with one car, so I may bring the second car as well. This one was featured in Bimmer Magazine in April. Hopefully my latest project will be well received. Now, back to work! If I get time later today, I may post a "teaser" pic or two.

Okay you devoted Bimmerfest devoted posters and lurkers alike, here is a sneak preview of the "Bimmerfest" special project that has been completed ahead of schedule. It is a Granny-Barn Find, 1984 533i with 60k original miles. As many of you know, I can't leave "well enough" alone, so here is what I have been working on day and night sine February (Weekends TOO!). I did a euro bumper conversion, Hardy & Beck springs, 17x8&9 BBS RS/color-matched to the car, and euro headlights & wipers. My vision was to have an original looking car with period wheels and a conservative look. I wanted the car to look like a time capsule that someone had purchased in the 80s, slightly modded it, and then shipped it to the US. Here is what I came up with, and see ya at the "Fest":
