Balancing . . . On a Hunter 9700 - interesting info I learned

I was having my wife's wheels balanced and my mechanic who is unbeleivably precise made a point to me while doing the balancing that I never thought about before . . .

He told me that since the tires were wet, they are adding some weight that a hunter 9700 balancer will pick up which might make a 1/4 ounce difference . . . we dried the tires with a rag and spun them for a little bit but it is something I never thought of.

He said the hunter 9700 is THAT sensitive that it picks up any little thing.

He also explained that 1/4 ounce of weight will not make a difference and will not be felt . . . he said he could basically put a 1/4 ounce weight on a wheel and you won't feel it but he said you can feel a 1/2 ounce weight difference . . .

It's pretty interesting the things you learn when getting this stuff done, that hunter 9700 is an incredible machine . ..

Meanwhile the wheels felt unbeleivably smooth when I drove home, maybe the wetness helped
