E63 / E64 6 Series (2003 - 2013)
The E63/E64 BMW 6 Series builds on BMW's sporty heritage with aggressive lines and an incredible motor to back the design up. Available in coupe and convertible trims with a standard 4.8 liter engine producing 360 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque, the 6-series is a popular choice that exceeds expectations.

Traded the 6 in for a 535...

... for an evening.

Had the car in to get the assist service activated, and they ran into some issues that eventually had me in a 535i loaner. Now with only a mild difference in power between my 645 and the 535, I can say the turbo lag in the 535 made for a much less enjoyable driving experience. I really missed having the torque on tap at any time. Not that I would compare the 2 cars in any way, they are miles apart in design and purpose, however, it made me miss my 6 even if it was just for an evening.

I will, however, say that I'm HIGHLY envious of the new iDrive system. The newer system is so much more intuitive and that new display and menu design is miles ahead of my early design iDrive today. I just loved how the menus flowed and how smooth the animation was in the menus etc. Very nice.

The dealer also got my Aux interface activated which I had installed last weekend, and did it free of charge, so that's a plus. My Sirius is no longer relying on the horrid quality of an FM modulator -- once again a drawback due to the early year of my car.

It's BMW part number 65 12 0 153 502 and can be found various places online or from your dealer, however, I found mine on Ebay from a random BMW dealer for $50.

Took me about 1 hour to install. If you are comfortable with taking your dash apart, its pretty simple, and it comes with a very uninformative installation guide that at least gives you the plug layout of where to plug the wires in behind the CD/DVD module.

Once installed, the dealer has to activate it so that "AUX" shows up on your list of sources on the iDrive -- and the nice iDrive-man responds when you say "Auxiliary" via voice command.

My Sirius sounds 10x better wired in via the Aux port vs the FM modulated method it had previously.
