2001 325cic Won't Start Regularly
I've had a 2001 325 convertible since October 2008. It had about 45k miles on it when purchased, now has about 55k. Just had the 60k service done at the local dealer.
Now, the car intermittently won't start. I'm used to jumping in, turning the key over and hearing the sweet purr of the engine. But Saturday, I truned the key only to hear a rhythmic click, click, click. Dashboard lights come on and flash in rhythm with the clicking. Took the battery out to check and see a green indicator. Put it back, turned the key to on, but not start. Waited for the dash lights to go out, then turned to start and the engine fired right up. The only way to start it now is to turn the key to on, wait about 10 seconds, then turn to start. Any help about what this could be will be greatly appreciated as I don't want to get ripped by the dealer. Thanks. |

My 2003 300xi did the same thing. The click click click and flashing lights mean you need a new battery.

Have the battery checked by an auto store. The green eye is not sufficient. I speak from experience.
If not the battery, then I'd look at fuel delivery: filter, pump. |

Your battery is bad. Go to Walmart and buy a 94R for $77 and install yourself. The Walmart is the same battery BMW will charge you $200 or more for. I just put one in my vert. BTW the green eye is not a reliable indicator of battery condition. BMW's' like most modern cars, will do very strange things when the battery is near the end of it's life.
