Snow tires...

My current tires are great summers, but about as crappy a set of winters as you could want. I'm thinking about getting a set of winters on steelies. I'm quite poor, and the options that have come up are
-Used Blizzaks on steelies for $200 - I'm going to look at them later this week
-If those aren't any good, a friend of mine has bare steelies I can buy for a song. The cheapest winter tires Tirerack offers are Winterforce; with mounting and balancing, that would come to about $200, too. Anyone tried 'em? Are they any good? I'm looking at mostly cold/a little snow driving.

Have you gone through ebay listing's . . . you might be able to get used winter wheels that already come with winter tires

I saw a whole bunch for Bimmer's for sale yesterday, I am sure there are alot for Miata's as well.

Fewer four-lugs than five on eBay with winters mounted, and I don't want to bother buying wheels seperately if that's what I'm looking at locally. Add shipping to the cheap four-lugs with used winters mounted and they're not a deal anymore. The local Discount will match any online price, and will mount and balance free any tires they have in stock, so I will be a cheap bastard on the steelies and new cheap Hankook snows. Just about $200, all told. What the heck, I'm not doing track events in 'em.
