X6 E71 / E72 (2008 - 2014)
The BMW X6 luxury crossover went on sale in April 2008 as a 2009 model year. BMW referes to the X6 as a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) as it combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, xDrive and all-weather ability) with the stance, styling and roof line shape of a coupe. The E71 X6 was built off the E70 X5 (2007 - 2013) platform at BMW's Spartanburg, SC plant. Total worldwide sales were just over 235,000, sold mostly to the BRIC countries. US total sales was 34,082 vehicles.

2011 X6 Contemplating

I've been kicking around the idea of adding a 2011 X6 to the stable. Got some lease numbers last night from my dealership and was pleasantly surprised at the residuals (currently 67% on a 24-month/15K lease and 69% for the 24-month/12K). Not bad considering that when I priced a lease on the X6 some time ago (prior to buying my 7), the same 24-month residual was hovering around 50%.

They didn't have an X6 to drive last night, but I did take a new '11 X5 50i Sport for a spin. Love the new 20" rims, which will be the same on the X6 50i. Aside from the rims, some minor package reorganizing, and the new 8-speed auto, I wasn't advised of any X6 changes for 2011. Has anyone heard anything to the contrary?

I'm debating what to do with regard to the seats. I had a '07 X5 and didn't think the perforated/ventilated seats ever worked like they should (certainly not like they do in my 7), so I am a bit soured on them. The Nappa leather is gorgeous, I'm sure, but I'm worried about it since this will be the car we use to haul the mutts. Does anyone have the Nevada leather seats, but elected the leather dash, etc? It look okay? Thoughts?

Last random thought: The top view camera looks to be something that would be immensely useful (unlike the side view cameras or Night Vision, which I think are wastes of money). Am I right?

picking up my x5 50i next week at performance delivery Ctr in SC. other than the 8spd not much else is new for 2011. I like the new rims style 336 as well. I ordered the Napa cause they look great esp with the full dash option... and back up cam with top down is mandatory as is adaptive drive!
