Custom Interior Mod on my e46 1999 328i

Hey guys I have an e39 540i Ive been on here a few times, I'm a custom painter from the bronx. Just wanted the forums thoughts on this project.

Im selling the car and the trims were all broken so I custom painted them. The steering wheel was all ripped up an worn so I stripped it of all the leather and padding, and fiberglassed it and bondo-ed it and painted it to match. If your asking why red, just to match the calipers. Let me know your thoughts.

PS Not finished still have to do a knob and a brake lever

Thanks MalibumafiaV, I'm just looking for some feedback, the red is ferrari red and is way in your face, but everything else on the car is black, tailights corner lights and rims so on the outside the calipers are the same color, I figured it will grab a you person for a sale, I hope, on my 540I all the trim is titanium silver, more subtle. Thanks again for the feed back

I would have left the trim around the door locks black. It highlights a boring piece of trim. That, and the red on the roundel has to go. Otherwise, look good. Now, you just have to find a buyer that likes it - its too red for me, but I'm an old fart.

Np. Not many people on here will approve of the red. But regardless the work and time put into this is always noticed and admired. You will definitely run into the right person though who will love it more than anything. A cars all about personal opinion and how you want it. I had chrome rims for the longest time ever and everyone hated it. But I LOVED IT!.

Excellent job, and very different (giving Will Castro a little run for his money, eh :-)
You should really post this on E46fanatics....that`s a slightly younger, more mod-happy crew over there....

I wouldn't do it to my car, but if you like then it's cool.

INcredible craftsmanship, especially the wheel, I really like that (not the red so much). I am a fan of less is more however and think the sunglass holder and ashtray doors should have been left black along with the center console. But again, the quality of the work looks impressive and I admire your creativity!

Excellent work done there, not my taste but quality that shows. You might want to finish it off with the "sharpie mod" to color your gauge needles red, and maybe repainted gauge rings to match the trim

Thanks again, I have a 528 that Im doing in white, his interior is all black with darkbrown wood, alpine white outside, so im doing the peices alpine white as well, thats my favorite combo. we'll see how it turns out. The only difference will be the steering wheel not doing it all just the m surround like i did on my 540i See pic below

erm, good work on painting, but you may want to reconsider your color choice.
