20's will give you a better ride and they will be less prone to bending. However tires made for 20's are going to be a bit harder to find, and may be more expensive than the ones for 22's. The 22's will give you a slightly rougher ride because of a smaller tire, thus meaning less protection from bending. The good thing is that there are a bunch of people who make tires for 22's and as well the look great.

20" tires are easy to find in the sizes that we need. However, it is correct, 20"s ride softer, if thats what you like. 22"s will firm things up a hair, like I like, but you do run a higher risk of bending rims. I think with the 22's, the car handles turns alot better.

So what I say, is go get 22's, but start a little rainy day fund for wheel repairs.

I have 22's I have a very smooth ride, Just need to put more meat on the tires, i am running with 295/30/22 on the rear and 265/30/22 on the front, Drives like stock to me. Its more cushion for the pushing.

get stock 18's. Tires are gonna be cheap and never worry about curb rash or bends. If you want the best ride quality go with staggered 17's....with a lip

2 questions:
1) how old are u
2) do u have kids

there are plenty of tires choices for both 20's and 22's

20 inch rims on a e36

20 inches fill out the wheel well very nice but the ride is not that great Id rather have smaller rims but they were given to me so i put them on my car lol.. It looks great though

I ran 22's for three years and never again! As everyone has stated, potholes. I bent each rim at least 9 times. Flats all the time. You come out to drive away and you don't... The look of 22's is the best on 7 series, but if you're a driver, I'd go 20's.
My car started off with a stiffer ride, being a i and sport model. The Li have a smoother ride. I'd try different rim sizes and make up your own mind. Good luck.
